Two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication uses two separate methods to confirm your identity for authentication. One is your password and another is a 6-digit code that is generated every 30 seconds by an app on your phone. This ensures that a hacker who somehow gets your password, even by hacking your computer, still cannot access your account since they would not have the code generated by your app.

This option is only available for the primary forum owner logging in to the master Website Toolbox account through websitetoolbox.com. It isn't available to administrators logging in through the Admin link on the forum.

Once the option is enabled, you'll see an additional screen which asks for your two factor authentication code after logging in. You will only be able to proceed with logging in if you provide the correct code.

You can enable or disable two-factor authentication on your Website Toolbox account by following the instructions below:

  1. Log in to your Website Toolbox account.
  2. Click the link for your username at the top of the page.
  3. In the menu that opens, select the Account link.
  4. To disable two-factor authentication, Click the Disable link next to the Two-Factor Authentication option. To enable two-factor authentication, click the Enable link next to the option and follow the instructions below.
  5. Scan or copy the seed to your Authenticator App (try Authy or Google Authenticator) and enter the 6-digit code that appears into the text box on the page.
  6. Click Enable.
  7. Next time you log in, an additional screen will appear which asks for your two-factor authentication code. You can check your app to get the correct code. You'll be able to proceed with logging in only if the code is correct.
