Website Toolbox does not have a one-click duplicate button, but you can copy a forum into a new one by exporting the original forum's content and importing it into the new forum. The copy brings over categories, topics, posts, member accounts, attachments, polls, and calendars.
Step-by-step
- Create the forum that will receive the copy. A separate forum is a separate Website Toolbox account, so sign up for a new account and set up the new forum first. See Can I create more than one forum in my account? for details.
- Export the original forum. Log in to your Website Toolbox account., open Integrate → Developers → Export and run the Content export in either the CSV or the SQL format. Also run the Members List export, and the Files & Photos export if your posts contain attachments. The export runs in the background, and a download link is emailed to you and shown on the Export page. The download link is valid for 5 days.
- Import into the new forum. Log in to the new forum's account, open Integrate → Import and select Website Toolbox as the platform to import from.
- Enter the original forum's URL and upload the export file you downloaded (the CSV zip or the SQL backup, up to 1 GB, compressed as .zip, .tar.gz, .tgz, or .gz). Optionally send the imported members a welcome email, then start the import and wait for the confirmation that it is complete.
- Review the new forum. Categories, topics, posts, member accounts (with their existing passwords), attachments, polls, and calendars should all be present. A brand new forum starts with a few starter categories; delete any that you do not want to keep.
What is not copied
- Settings and paid access plans
- Your theme, custom appearance, custom pages, and custom code
- Your custom domain
- Albums and private messages
Import into a forum that does not already contain the same content, and do not run the same import twice, as a second run can create duplicate copies of the imported content. For other import sources, partial imports, or importing only members, see Importing content from a different system.
