You can disable a webhook endpoint when your server is under maintenance or you don't want to receive events for a while, without deleting the endpoint. Disabling keeps the endpoint's URL, subscribed events, and signing secret saved, so you can enable it again at any time.
Step-by-step
- Log in to your Website Toolbox account.
- Go to Integrate → Webhooks.
- Click Manage next to the webhook endpoint.
- Choose Disable and click Confirm to stop sending events to the endpoint, or choose Enable to start receiving events again.
The endpoint stays in your webhook list, where a Disabled label shows that it is not receiving events. You can also enable or disable an endpoint from its edit page: a notification at the top of the page shows when the webhook is disabled, with an Enable link, and the three-dot menu in the top right corner contains the Disable and Enable options.
Once enabled, the endpoint immediately starts receiving new events.
What disabling a webhook endpoint does
- Events are no longer sent to the endpoint, and any events still waiting to be delivered to it are removed from the delivery queue.
- The endpoint's settings (URL, subscribed event types, and signing secret) are saved and take effect again as soon as you re-enable it.
- Disabling is different from deleting. Deleting removes the endpoint and its settings permanently.
Automatic disabling after delivery failures
Website Toolbox retries a failed delivery every hour for up to 3 days per event. If an endpoint keeps failing, with no successful deliveries for 7 days, it is disabled automatically so your community doesn't keep generating failed requests. When this happens, we email you a summary of the errors along with an Enable webhook endpoint button that re-enables the endpoint with one click once your server is working again. You can also re-enable it any time using the steps above.
Zapier webhook endpoints are managed through Zapier and cannot be disabled from here.
