Adding a video to a post

To insert a video into your post, you would first need to ensure that the video has been uploaded to a video hosting site such as YouTube. Supported video hosting sites include YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Metacafe, and Facebook.

Once the video has been uploaded to a video hosting site, simply mention the video URL (address) in your post. Whenever the post is displayed, the URL will automatically be converted into an embedded video that can be played without having to leave the page.

If you would like to avoid having the video URL converted into an embedded video, use the Insert Link toolbar button to insert your video URL as a link. Ensure that the text for the link is something other than the video URL.

If you need to embed a video from a site other than the supported video hosting sites, you can insert the HTML embed code for the video into the post.

The video can also be uploaded as an attachment to a post instead of as an embedded video from a video hosting site. To allow video post attachments, add the video file types (AVI, MPG, MPEG, WMV) to your acceptable file types list. However, in this case, the videos will be displayed as links rather than as embedded videos. Additionally, the maximum file size of the post attachment is limited to 50 MB.

If you would like to stream inline videos that are only private to your forum, we recommend trying a private video hosting service such as Vzaar.
