Mobirise is a free, offline website builder that lets you create responsive websites using drag-and-drop blocks. It runs as a desktop application on Windows and Mac, outputs clean HTML and CSS, and is based on Bootstrap 5. But like most website builders, it doesn't include a built-in community forum or discussion feature.
That's where Website Toolbox comes in. You can embed a fully featured discussion forum directly into your Mobirise site using the Code Editor extension's Custom HTML block, or simply link to your forum from your site's navigation. Either way, you get user accounts, moderation tools, and real-time conversations.
This works really well for:
- SaaS product communities
- Online course discussions
- Coaching and membership sites
- Customer support forums
- Feedback and feature request boards
- Creator and hobby communities
- Private member groups
This step-by-step guide walks you through the process:
Step-by-Step: Add Your Forum
- Download and install the Mobirise desktop application from the official website. It's available for both Windows and Mac.
- Open Mobirise and either start a new site or open an existing project. If you don't have the Code Editor extension yet, go to Extensions → Themes and Extensions and install it. The Code Editor is part of the All-in-One Kit or available as a standalone purchase.
- In the Mobirise editor, click the + button (Add Block) in the right panel to open the Blocks list. Scroll down to find the Custom HTML block (available after installing Code Editor) and drag it onto your page where you want the forum to appear.
-
Now you'll get your Website Toolbox forum embed code or URL:
- Log in to your Website Toolbox account or create a new forum if you don't already have one.
- Copy your forum URL. You'll need this for the linking approach.
- For the embedding approach, go to Integrate Embed → Embed your forum , and copy the embed code.
-
Option A: Embed the forum: Click on the Custom HTML block you added. In the HTML Editor panel that opens, paste your Website Toolbox embed code into the HTML area. Remove any placeholder content. Click outside the editor to save, and the forum will render inside your page.
Option B: Link to the forum: Add a button or navigation link to your Mobirise site. Click on a button element, set the link URL to your Website Toolbox forum URL, and configure it to open in a new tab. -
Click the Publish button (the orange arrow icon in the top-right corner). Choose your publishing method: upload to your own hosting via FTP, save to a local folder, or publish to a free Mobirise subdomain at
*.mobirisesite.com. Click Publish to make your site live. - If you chose the embedding approach, copy the URL of your published page where the forum is embedded. You can find it by visiting your published site and navigating to the page containing the forum.
- If you chose the embedding approach, go back to the Website Toolbox Integrate → Embed → Embed Your Forum section and paste your Mobirise page URL into the Where is the forum embedded? field.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Mobirise have a built-in forum feature?
No, Mobirise does not currently have a native forum feature. However, you can easily add a forum to your site using Website Toolbox, either by embedding it directly into a page using the Custom HTML block or by linking to it from your navigation.
Should I embed the forum or link to it?
Both work well. Embedding keeps users on your Mobirise site and integrates the forum seamlessly into your page layout. Linking is simpler to set up and opens the forum in its own page, which can be a better experience on mobile devices. Choose whichever fits your workflow.
Can I customize the look of my embedded forum?
Yes. Website Toolbox provides a theme editor with a variety of themes you can choose from to match your Mobirise site's design. You can customize colors, fonts, layout settings, and more to create a seamless look.
Can I make the forum private or members-only?
Absolutely. You can restrict forum access to logged-in users, create invite-only communities, or charge for access with subscription plans. Combined with the SSO integration, you can seamlessly connect your Mobirise site's user system with the forum.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Mobirise is a drag-and-drop builder that requires no coding skills. Adding the forum is as simple as dragging a Custom HTML block onto your page and pasting the embed code. If you prefer the linking approach, you just add a button and set the URL.
Will the forum work on mobile devices?
Yes. Website Toolbox forums are fully responsive and work great on phones, tablets, and desktops. If you embed the forum, the iframe adapts to the container size automatically. Mobirise also builds mobile-friendly pages by default, so your entire site will look great on any device. Website Toolbox also offers a mobile app so your members can participate from their phones.
