I would like to plan a trip to Yuba lake. I have never been. I know it allows boating, but is it a good place to boat/ski? Any recommendations on camp site?

"The 3 tubs have been cleared of debri and appear to be draining as they were intended to, away from the parking area.

Although the water looked inviting, it was pretty cool. It was slightly warm but generally pretty cold. I think this is because the path that the water takes to the "tubs" is a broken pipe that exposes the water to the air for quite a ways before it reaches the tubs. This cools the water off considerably and thus the water isn't warm enough to get in."

any good advice on gps unit

I'm looking to buy a gps unit for my four wheeler. Only can't decide on which one to get. Looking to mark my own trails in the west desert. Any advice on one would be great.Or is it better to just get lost in the desert, and try to find your way out.

Camping ground and visiting the springs!

Hi everyone,
I just joined this board. I have never been camping in my life and am trying to get into it and visit all the cool outdoor places around here.

Anyway, I got all my camping gears and now I am trying to get a 2nights-1day (or maybe a bit longer) camping trip somewhere close to the fifth water springs (I think I got the name right). Does anyone know if there is a camping ground somewhere around the springs? Anywhere between 2 to 5 miles from the entrance of the trail would be cool since I will jst drive from where I camp to it. I don't mind hiking from the camping ground to the springs cause from what I see it's worth it. Since I am not experienced in camping and regulations around here, I don't want to go camping somewhere I am not supposed to and get in trouble. I don't want my first experience to be a nightmare.

I am planning on going between April 23rd and 29th. My plan would be to find some camping ground where I can park and put up a tent and do things around the place like visiting the springs and surrounding areas. I assume that I will have to lock all valuables in my car when I go hike and stuff to avoid having them being stolen.

I am graduating and debating whether or not to stay in Utah. Since, there's is a lot of outdoor activities here that I am trying to get into. I want to plan this right and see if this is really something I would enjoy. I will be really grateful for any type of info.

Knolls Over Easter

I was wondering if anyone has been out to the Knolls over Easter weekend... do you know what the crowd is like, large medium small? We are planning to camp/ride for the holiday but plan to avoid Jericho like the plague over that weekend... you got it we don't have a death wish, LOL! Just really trying to find a place that life flight doesn't show up every 30 minutes or so.

Great Place To Feed The Ducks

Okay, it's winter, it's cold and cabin fever is setting in. Here is a fun location to get outdoors and enjoy an activity that is perfect for the whole family. Located on 1300 W and approx 5910 S is an area that has been designed for feeding the Ducks, and on our visit the Pigeons. This area includes a enough parking for several cars, garbage cans and steps to allow the little ones to reach over the fence. Next time you have some old bread on the counter, load up the kids and enjoy.

Please respect this area by not leaving your trash. Also 1300W runs right by so be sure to keep track of your kids so they dont end up in the road.

Are the Perch Back In Rockport Reservoir?

Spent the day Ice-Fishing Rockport and started our day in 40 feet of water. Within the first 5 minutes we landed the first fat healthy Perch of the day. After that the fishing slowed so we moved around to locate the fish with no success. With only one hour of light left we decided to move back out to 40 feet of water and instantly started catching Perch. Within 20 minutes we iced 6 Perch and if we had more light I'm certain we could of caught allot more. We used small glow in the dark jigs tipped with mealworm.

Walk In Access Program

ON AUGUST 11, 2005, the Wildlife Board approved the Walk-In Access (WIA) Program. This will be a three-year pilot program in the Northern Region of Utah only. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) will lease private property from landowners for public access.

The Walk-In Access Program compensates private landowners monetarily for public access to their property. Depending on the property and agreement with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, the public will be able to hunt, fish or trap on the property.

Currently, the DWR is seeking landowners who own property in the Northern Region to enroll in the program. Sportsmen will be able to receive maps and information about the program online beginning in the spring of 2006 before the spring wild turkey hunts.

Clint Brunson and Ed Liese are the WIA program managers. Landowners interested in more information may contact Clint Brunson (801) 866-6106 or Ed Liese (435) 757-0029.

Utah Outdoor Activities feels this is a great start to opening more lands for hunting, fishing and more. Please tell us how you feel about this new program. Will it work? Will the land owners and the hunters benefit? Will it be managed properly? Will the sportsmen respect the land owners property?
