WEC 36 postponed until november...

Hurricane Ike -- a Category 3 storm with sustained winds of 115 miles per hour that could threaten South Florida by the middle of next week -- forced the postponement of WEC 36 on Friday in Hollywood, Fla.

The event, originally scheduled for Sept. 10, was moved to Nov. 5, according to Ryan Rogers, Sports & Entertainment Public Relations Manager for the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

The decision was made in the last half hour, Rogers said. Hurricane Ike looks too bad. There are too many people at risk, and its just not worth it.

A featherweight title bout between champion Urijah Faber and Mike Thomas Brown will headline the event, which was pushed back two months as a precaution.

The 29-year-old Faber (21-1) delivered what many consider a career-defining performance in his sixth title defense against Jens Pulver on June 1. The California Kid unveiled an improving stand-up game against the former UFC lightweight champion at WEC 34 in front of a riled-up Sacramento, Calif., hometown audience. The 5-foot-6 dynamo punished Pulver in numerous heated exchanges and then thwarted much of the Miletich fighters return fire en route to a unanimous decision.

American Top Team product Mike Brown (17-4) will have the home-field advantage when the two finally meet in November. A native of Maine now based out of the revered ATT academy in Coconut Creek, Fla., Brown earned his shot at gold with a unanimous decision win against Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Jeff Curran at WEC 34. While I am happy to see that Randy is back fighting again; I am really disappointed that the UFC is going to be giving a title shot to Brock Lesnar. I just really don't think that Lesnar is deserving of a title shot after three professional fights.

I was wondering what you are hearing on the rumors of the WEC abondoning the upper weights and just focusing on the 155 and lower?

How does this affect Jake? He has tons of potential so I am sure he is one the UFC would take, but just wondering what the rumblings are...

The two come out firing. Moore lands a good punch and Roller answers. Moore lands a few more good shots but then takes Roller down. Roller tries for a guillotine. Moore easily escapes the choke and works ground-n-pound. Roller defending well and latches on another guillotine. Moore is stuck in the choke and it's deep. Moore can't escape this one. He taps out at 3:00 of the first.
