Looking for Snow Ratcliffe

I am trying to contact Snow Ratcliffe. We served together in 1 Field Regiment, RAA at Wacol, Brisbane. Last seen Snow in the Sgts Mess at Wacol around 1978/79.

GUNNER TO GUNNER - OLD DIGGER NEEDS HELP !

Hi everyone,

Below is an email I have received form one of our own Steve Filipek:

"To the webmaster and fellow arty blokes (9mile snipers) Steve Filipek 102 BTY , P&EE Port Wakefield I have found myself in an unfortunate situation having being diagnosed with acute myaliod lukemia which is an aggresive bone marrow cancer. I have had four lots of chemotherapy not real nice, but for me it is not the answer it seems that I require a bone marrow transplant so what I am asking for is that anybody who is able is to registar at the redcross and to go onto the bone marrow registar which is worldwide. The thing is it may not help me but it could help somebody any where in the world. Any way I am of to Freemantle Hospital on Monday the 6th of October for treatment number 5 I should be there for about 4 weeks or so. What I did find out was this may have been caused by my service at my last posting not proven yet thankyou for taking the time to read this. Steve Filipek 47099."

LOOKING FOR - JOE PORTOLESI

My name is Chris Cannin and I served in Vietnam with 6 & 7 Battalion first tour.

I was a regular soldier and undertook my training at Kapooka in March 1966.

My room mate was Joe Portolesi ( Giussepe Antonia ) Army No 4411023 and we became firm friends.

Unforunately when it came to Corp allocation I was assigned Infantry & Joe was sent to Artillery.

I have not heard from him since and have been unable to track down his whereabouts !

Could your Association give me any information or have Joe contact me through your Association.

I would be very grateful of any assistance.

artillerymen identities 8th Battery WWI ?

Hi all,

I am a new member and profess ignorance of artillery from the outset.

I've joined the list in the hope that I can learn more with an end to filling some of the gaps concerning my paternal grandfathers' activities in WWI. My father's father was born in NSW in 1891, trained as a gunner in NZ in his 20's then came back to Sydney at the end of 1913. When war broke out he enlisted as a driver in the 1st Div Amm Column - went to Gallipoli where he was a gunner with the 8th Battery (3rd FAB) then the 1st Div Artillery HQ before heading to France. He transferred to the 5th Div at the beginning of 1917 - his time spent as a gunner, a batman and back and forth to the 1st Anzac Corps School and the field. He returned to Australia at the end of 1918.

I have a few photos from that time, one of which he's standing with his mates in front of a tent - probably taken at Mena before heading off to Gallipoli. I'd be happy to send it one to anyone here who may have had a relative in the 1st Div at Mena say March-June 1915 in the hope someone can identify one of these fellas.

8/12 MDM REGT - HQ BTY BSM'S - WHO WERE THEY

The current BSM of HQ Bty 8/12 Mdm Regt is trying to identify all past HQ Bty BSMs. This necessity has come about due to the loss of their Honour Board when they moved from Holsworthy to Darwin.

Phil Dorsett you out there ?? or any body knowing the where abouts of this person please contact me or him & let him know I am looking for him.

103 Mdm. Bty. 1975/1980, believe he accepted his third stripe & was posted to Townsville 1981 - Phil was bestman at my wedding.

I would also love to hear from any members/mates from 103 Mdm. to catch up.

We had some good times - X-Mas`s out bush when they would not let us into Liverpool for our party - when we were camped on the Gundagai show grounds & I took a few of us home & out on the town - Malaya 1977 (with that grunt mob - C Company from Adelaide).

To the blokes who remember I was the one who smashed up his legs on Moorebank Ave. on his bucks night (Phil was driving) 1979
