SOAR Inflatables - FOR SALE

After 16 years as the founder and owner of SOAR Inflatables, I have come to a decision on a major turning point in my life. I am ready to sell SOAR.

I have other business activities besides SOAR, and there is no longer time for all of them. One of them has to go, and I think that SOAR Inflatables is ready to flourish under someone's else leadership.

What I am selling is the corporate name, logos, website, boat / accessory designs, customer acct list, long term relationships with suppliers and customers, excellent reputation among outdoor industry professionals and loyal, fervent users, a vibrant SOAR community, and a steady stream of new customers.

There is no debt to assume, and the only potential liability are warranty issues. As most SOAR owners will attest, there are hardly any warranty claims. SOARs are well built and are very reliable.

Based upon the brand SOAR Inflatables, there is so much room to grow in the inflatable paddle sports / wilderness river expedtion / family / fishing / diving markets.

My ideal purchaser is a small group of hands-on owners looking for the fun challenge of growing this remarkable brand. You will need experience in the development, marketing, sales and distribution of an international product.

In order to purchase SOAR and have sufficient capital to invest and grow, whoever buys SOAR from me must have a minimum of $1,000,000 available.

SOAR can be moved to any part of the world, you don't have to move to it.

Until I find a buyer, I will continue to provide the same quality product w/ the best possible service.

This posting is for information only. No replies are necessary. I do not edit / censor any postings on the SOARTalk Forum, but I will exercise that right on this post.
Love my SOAR!

Wow! I have had my SOAR since July '08 and am loving it so much. I have taken it out 6 times this summer and it's just great. Our madien voyage was Lake Mead in Las Vegas, it was a little hard to navagaite with the wind, but exciting none the less. Twice now to Willow Beach in AZ below Hoover dam on the Colorado river (calm water). Great easy padding, I took my young son fishing. No fish but it was alot of fun anyway. Lots of desert wildlife including an encounter with a rattlesnake and I've seen bighorn sheep on the rocky canyon walls. Took the SOAR to Big Bear Lake in CA, beautiful environment, easy paddling. Most recently traveled with the SOAR to Seattle WA. The SOAR traveled well on airplane and public transit although most onlookers thought we must surely have a dead body in the giant duffle. We paddled on Lake Union with yachts and water planes taking off and landing, it was fantastic. We also paddled in Lake Washington and around Seward Park, very nice. At journeys end we were treated to a magnificent view of Mt. Rainer. Feraless Chuck was right when he told me I would love my SOAR! I am looking forward to many adventures in the future.

Forum: SOAR Chatter

New Member with Some Questions

I have just recently joined this forum and after reading literally every post in the forum I decided that I just had to have a Soar inflatable - especially since we live in the Salmon River Canyon in Idaho. While going thru the throws of deciding which Soar to get (S16, Canyon or Pro Pioneer) I stumbled across a used S16 for a great price (at least I think so) so I bought it.

It has been well used, but not abused from what I can tell. There are two patches on the bottom and the tubes are "alligatoring" and becoming thread bare in places, but it has no leaks and the valves are fine. But it does need some TLC, which leads me to my questions.

The plan is to paint the tubes (and floor?) with GacoFlex H-22 Hypalon paint. Does anyone have any experience with this product or with painting their Soar with any other product? I also want to add some D-rings. Should they be added before or after painting?

Forum: SOAR Chatter

SOAR = awesome

Just came back from two rivers. Westwater on Colorado and Murtaugh on Snake.

Class 4-5 action. Westwater was awesome, nailed all holes (except Skull), even managed to drop over Last Chance. I had a paddler on the front and oars in my oar saddles. Loved my boat.

My boat: SOAR 14 with oar saddles and 7.5 Cataract oars.

My Murtaugh experience wasn't the same. My buddy bailed on me and I decided to take SOAR down on my own with out the front paddler. Third rapid into the canyon, I broke a Cataract oar and bent the oar lock (yes I was pulling that hard). Also the floor deflated, so need to look for a rip or a broken valve tomorrow. I didn't have a spare oar, so I had to paddle my SOAR down class 4-5 nasty rapids. Another buddy felt sorry for me and volunteered to help me paddle (he was in a paddle raft). 6 swims through class 4 rapids, I finally finished the canyon.

SOAR did awesome in the whitewater, punched through all waves and danced like a mad dancer on the water. If I had a front paddler to begin with, I think I'd have a different outcome. I am glad to be alive though.

I will take SOAR back to Murtaugh once I fix all my damage.

Here is a little write up with pics about our Westwater permit and my flip on Murtaugh video coming up.

http://bogley.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=126000#126000

Alex

Forum: SOAR Chatter

I'm just reposting this from Craigslist. Looks like a good deal. Lots of big photos. - CW
http://seattle.craigslist.org/skc/boa/779387981.html

_______________

SOAR Inflatable Canoe S12 - $700 (Kent, Wa)

Reply to: see below
Date: 2008-08-01, 3:38PM PDT

If you know what you are looking at, you know this is a good boat. I would say that it is really made for going down the river and can handle pretty much and class you are skilled enough to navigate it.

12 Foot Heavy Duty Hypolon Inflatable Canoe

What You Get:
Used SOAR S12 Inflatable Canoe (new: $1,625)
Barely Used SOAR 5-Piece Breakdown Paddle Set (new: $190)
Vinyl Duffle Bag (new: $75 approx.)
Bravo 10 HP Footpump (new:$64)
2 Padded Mesh Seat Covers (new: $14/per)
An Assortment of Patches, Straps, and UV Protectant

To get this setup new it would run you over $2,000 when you include either tax or shipping (since you can't get it around here). An amazing deal for anyone who spends much time on a river.

For more information: Nick@EmberElements.com

Reviews:

This one is for the 14 foot version of the same boat
http://www.tackletour.com/reviewsoar14.html

http://www.saintbrendan.com/cdnaug/rgear2_8.html

Comparative Review of the Best Inflatable Canoes
http://www.canoekayak.com/whitewater/rafting/inflatables/

Forum: Marketplace

Sailing a SOAR - Experience, Advice, Photos

I'm about to buy a lightly used SOAR Sail Rig from SommersElk.
I've sailed in the past, but have NO experience with the SOAR setup.

One thing I learned sailing is that everyone constantly modifies their boats and rigging - it's like an obsession or something.
So with that in mind, I'd appreciate any advice y'all can offer, such as...

Has anyone modified the basic SOAR sail rig package, and if so, how?

How does it sail (the rig looks very similar to a Sunfish)?

Any "do's and don'ts" I should know about?

Any weak points that need strengthening?

Any any other advice would be most helpful. Once I get it setup on my 14', I'll take photos to share.
Thanks. - CW
Update 7-17-08
Attached is a photo of the rig I'm in the process of buying.

I'm not sure if this is a SOAR 14 or 16 in the photo. - CW

Forum: SOAR Chatter

Shopping for a Soar

I am interested in buying a Soar and was looking for some feedback on my needs vs. what Soar to get. Here is the situation: my girlfriend and I love to fly fish and we both have a dog. We would float rivers, such as the upper Colorado (in CO), and would not be in search of class IV's. I've come to the conclusion that a rowing harness is essential for fly fishing. So, would the 16 accommodate 2 people and 2 dogs on day trips?

Forum: SOAR Chatter

I wanted to say thanks to the SOAR community for some advice I read last year. I wanted to learn how to get the most out of my SOAR 16 and be safe at the same time. One person recommended that I look into the Sacramento Red Cross canoe classes. I took the Fundamentals class, River Class and Whitewater class last year.

I have learned to paddle much more effectively and am enjoying my SOAR even more. The instruction was top notch and all of the volunteers have been great. Another great benefit is that I have made friends and contacts to paddle with. My wife has taken a couple of the classes and my daughter and friends will be taking the Fundamentals class this summer.

The Sacramento Sierra Red Cross is one of only two chapters that still teach canoeing. The price is right and its fun. I have even begun the process of becoming an instructor.

If anyone is interested they can check it out on-line at sacsierraredcross.org and click on "Get Trained"

See you on a river.

Forum: SOAR Chatter

Damaged Soar16 for sale

I have a Soar 16 which has some of the floor i-beams separated. It is an older model from around 1994. It has been stored in a controlled environment for the last 8 years and all chambers hold air. There is no other damage. Sent pictures to Larry at SOAR and he estimates the repairs will be around $400 plus shipping to Denver.

I am unable to use the boat due to health problems.

If anyone is interested in a bargain I have pictures.

Forum: Marketplace
