Just won a new old stock Sansui AU alpha 707DR... I have questions.

Hello everybody.

I just won this auction:
http://cgi.ebay.ch/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290225231298

The seller says that this AU alpha 707DR is 100% new and never used and that he opened the original box just to take pictues.

This amp was manufactured around 1990-92.
So it is some 16-18 years old.

What can I expect when I turn it on after all this time?

Could its caps be all dried out?

I did a total recap on my vintage Kenwood KA-907 from 1979.

But if this Sansui is new and never used, it woud be a shame to rip all those fancy caps out (I heard that Sansui used only highest quality parts in those models) in order to replace them with new ones.
On the other hand, they might just look pretty on the outside, while being all dried out inside.

Does anybody have a service manual for this beast?
...Or knows how and where to check an set bias and how to adjust DC offset?! What are the original bias values?

Thanks in advance!

Aleksandar

Forum: Sansui - Modified / High Ends

Sansui AU-D33 protection relay replacement

I've got a Sansui AU-D33 which always has had issues with the protection relay getting oxidized (or dirty), which caused one channel to malfunction at low volume.

After having cleaned it for so many times, which would relieve the problem for a period of months, it stopped getting 'clean'.

So, in my quest to get a spare part, I bought a service manual for the amplifier online, but it only lists a spare part number which I suppose is a Sansui part number. The relay itself doesn't bear any markings which might reveal its manufacturer;

Can anyone tell me how to obtain the relay in question (Sansui part number 46512000 )? Or how to get more information about the specific part?
Forum: Sansui - Hi-Fi Models

Sansui 220000

I've owned a Sansui G22000 receiver now for 15 years. When I bought it I had to replace the output transistors and all of the pre-out drivers as well. It worked fine until the other day. I turn it on and the protection light will flash until I turn off both of the speaker outs A&B. I've checked for a DC voltage at the output terminals to the speakers but found none. I also checked the DC resistance of my speakers which came out at a healthy 4.1 ohms each. I don't have a schematic at hand and am not sure that the output voltage would be present without the speaker selector switch on the tuner being on. If I turn the power off on the back of the amp then the Tuner seems to come on normally. Any help would be appreciated.

Forum: Sansui - Hi-Fi Models
