Victoria Day is Monday, 19 May

The Sovereign's birthday has been celebrated in Canada since the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901).
May 24, Queen Victoria's birthday, was declared a holiday by the Legislature of the Province of Canada in 1845.
After Confederation, the Queen's birthday was celebrated every year on May 24 unless that date was a Sunday, in which case a proclamation was issued providing for the celebration on May 25.

An amendment to the Statutes of Canada in 1952 established the celebration of Victoria Day on the Monday preceding May 25.

From 1953 to 1956, the Queen's birthday was celebrated in Canada on Victoria Day, by proclamation of the Governor General, with Her Majesty's approval. In 1957, Victoria Day was permanently appointed as the Queen's birthday in Canada. In the United Kingdom, the Queen's birthday is celebrated in June.

http://www.kidsturncentral.com/holidays/victoriaday.htm

Victoria Day
Sovereign's birthday
The Sovereign's birthday has been celebrated in Canada since the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901).
May 24, Queen Victoria's birthday, was declared a holiday by the Legislature of the Province of Canada in 1845.

After Confederation, the Queen's birthday was celebrated every year on May 24 unless that date was a Sunday, in which case a proclamation was issued providing for the celebration on May 25.
After the death of Queen Victoria in 1901, an Act was passed by the Parliament of Canada establishing a legal holiday on May 24 in each year (or May 25 if May 24 fell on a Sunday) under the name Victoria Day.

The birthday of King Edward VII, who was born on November 9, was by yearly proclamation during his reign (1901-1910) celebrated on Victoria Day.

It was not an innovation to celebrate the birthday of the reigning sovereign on the anniversary of the birth of a predecessor. In Great Britain, the birthdays of George IV (1820-1830) and William IV (1830-1837) were celebrated on June 4, birthday of George III (1760-1820).

The birthday of King George V, who reigned from 1910 to 1935, was celebrated on the actual date, June 3 or, when that was a Sunday, by proclamation on June 4.

The one birthday of King Edward VIII, who reigned in 1936, was also celebrated on the actual date, June 23.

King George VI's birthday, which fell on December 14, was officially celebrated in the United Kingdom on a Thursday early in June. Up to 1947 Canada proclaimed the same day but in 1948 and further years settled on the Monday of the week in which the United Kingdom celebration took place. George VI reigned from 1936 to 1952.
The first birthday of Queen Elizabeth II, in 1952, was also celebrated in June.

Meanwhile, Canada continued to observe Victoria Day.

The Royal Union Flag, commonly known as the "Union Jack" where physical arrangements allow, is flown along with the National Flag at federal buildings, airports, military bases and other federal buildings and establishments within Canada, from sunrise to sunset, to mark this day.

Physical arrangements means the existence of at least two flag poles; the Canadian flag always takes precedence and is never replaced by the Union Jack. Where only one pole exists, no special steps should be taken to erect an additional pole to fly the Union Jack for this special day.

Attached is a list giving the dates of the observance in Canada of the Sovereign's birthday since Queen Victoria.

Observance in Canada of the Sovereign's Birthday
SovereignOfficial celebrationNatural birthday
Queen Victoria
(1837-1901)24 May24 May
King Edward VII
(1901-1910)24 May (Victoria Day)November 9
King George V
(1910-1935)June 3June 3
King Edward VIII
(1936)June 23June 23
King George VI
(1936-1952)Wednesday June 9, 1937
Thursday June 9, 1938
Saturday May 20, 1939 (Royal Visit)
Thursday June 13, 1940
Monday June 9, 1941
Monday June 8, 1942
Wednesday June 2, 1943
Thursday June 8, 1944
Thursday June 14, 1945
Monday June 10, 1946
Tuesday June 10, 1947
Monday June 7, 1948
Monday June 6, 1949
Monday June 5, 1950
Monday June 4, 1951
Queen Elizabeth II
(1952- )Monday June 9, 1952.
Since 1953, on Victoria Day

http://www.pch.gc.ca/progs/cpsc-ccsp/jfa-ha/victoria_e.cfm

Forum: British Isles and the Commonwealth

Another Australian Poll

It's running about 82% in favour of the monarchy! Let's keep it that way.

2GB Sydney has a poll on a republic. Please take a moment to log onto the
following link and vote NO.

http://www.2gb.com/index.php?option=com_yoursay&id=780&task=view&Itemid=173#vote

Republic debate - God save the Queen?

The debate for an Australian republic has reached an all time low with
figures showing support at only 42percent of the population, the lowest its
been since 1993.

With the Prime Minister Kevin Rudd releasing his ambitious plans for a
republic at the 2020 summit, Australians seem less inclined to the idea of a
constitutional republic.

Meanwhile, if Prince Charles were crowned king 56 percent of Australians
would support a republic.

Given all the hype and hysteria over the last few weeks over the republic,
is Australia ready to determine its own head of state?
Top of Form
Do you support a constitutional republic?
Maturity And Democracy.

I recently read an article on Human Progress, written by someone hwo thinks the flow of Human Hisotyr is upward, and that modern Democracy is itself evidenc of the moral and intellectual progress of mankind.

I woudl offer a link, but the article, ostentatiously of the same title as this thread, was paper.

Anyway, the theory he resents relies upon the past beign primitve, and with no govenrment. Eventually humans developed tribes lea dby the strongest. This lead to familial reationshops and cheiftains of tribes, which eventually devceloped into cooperative tribes with a supreme tribe, and finally to Monarchies, which where absolute. This gave way to Kings sharign power wiht Parliments, which gradually tookmore an dore power, until finally Humanity realised its potential and mebraced a Govenrment for, of, and by the people.

Thus the flow of Hisotyr is one way, to a Democracy, which is th ehighest and best form of Govenrment and the most developed and advaced.

I've heard the same basic idea before, about Modern Democracy beign the most advanced form of Govenrment an dour progress leadung to it.

Yet, doens't this view ignore History? Democrayc is acutllay oen fo the oldest forms of Goernment if nto the oldest, Aristotle and plat both spoke of it as did Seneca. We dont see a progression from Kings to Republics only, and sometimes Republics becoem Monarhcies as did the ROman Empire. ( WHch was touche don in the aritlce but he saw this as a temproary regressiona nd linked the Feudal system with pimitive andbackwards Feudalsim which accoridng to him was a regresison to a mroe promitive form of govenrment.)

I don't rellay ee how our current democratic form fo Govenrment is nesesarily the most advance ofm that we as a race grew into, nor assurence of its permenancy as a replacement o Monarchy.

But it seems ot be that many Modenr Democrats see a link between Maturity and Democracy.

Is this a common rend in your observation?

Forum: General

Royal Duty-I vow to Thee my Country

Another Youtube you might like, with clips of the Royal Family doing their duty.

Here's the link.

And here are the words to the song, tho' the second verse is not usually sung anymore:

I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above,
Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love;
The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test,
That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best;
The love that never falters, the love that pays the price,
The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.

I heard my country calling, away across the sea,

Across the waste of waters she calls and calls to me.

Her sword is girded at her side, her helmet on her head,

And round her feet are lying the dying and the dead.

I hear the noise of battle, the thunder of her guns,

I haste to thee my mother, a son among thy sons.

And there's another country, I've heard of long ago,
Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know;
We may not count her armies, we may not see her King;
Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering;
And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase,
And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace.

Forum: British Isles and the Commonwealth

The Battle of Britain

I found this on Youtube. Given that, in a very real sense, the Second Battle of Britain is being fought today by more peaceful means, I thought it appropriate.

Since I have no idea how to embed a video, here's the link:

The Battle of Britain

And for those who don't know all three verses of the Royal Anthem as they are sung in the video, especially the second verse, which is virtually unknown today, but very apropos in the current situation, here they are:

God save our gracious Queen,
Long live our noble Queen,
God save the Queen:
Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us:
God save the Queen.

O Lord, our God, arise,
Scatter her enemies,
And make them fall.
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On Thee our hopes we fix,
God save us all.

Thy choicest gifts in store,
On her be pleased to pour;
Long may she reign:
May she defend our laws,
And ever give us cause
To sing with heart and voice
God save the Queen.

And here's Dame Vera singing 'Land of Hope and Glory'!

Forum: British Isles and the Commonwealth

Hierarchy of Hell (Nobility of Hell)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hierarchy_of_demons

We all know that in our world their are Nobility threw out every Monarchy with such titles like Prince, Count and Baron. Their is however a Nobility of Hell with with Henchmen of Satan as the Nobles of Hell. Here is a list of Titles of the Nobility of Hell from the highest to the lowest

01. Emperor (Satan)
02. Great Kings
03. Kings
04. Great Princes
05. Princes
06. Great Marquises
07. Marquises
08. Great Dukes
09. Dukes
10. Great Earls
11. Earls
12. Great Presidents
12. Presidents
13. Knights
14. Great Marshals

Here is a list of some Demons that I found representing some of the Noble Ranks of Hell.

Satan (Emperor of Hell)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satan

Asmodai (Great King of Hell)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asmodai

Belial (Prince of Hell)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belial

Berith (Great Duke of Hell)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berith

Baal (Duke of Hell)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baal_%28demon%29

As Monarchists what do you think of the Nobility of Hell. Do you believe that as Monarchists we have to support them. This is a tricky situation for us Monarchists becuase these Nobles are evil.

For some fun. We all know that we have a Chinese Calander and a Greek Calander representing the various Months. Their is also a Demon Calander in which certian Demons are at their most powerful on certain months.

Classification of Demons (Go to Classification of Demons by Month)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classification_of_demons

Since I was born in January, my Demon is Belial

Name: Belial
Rank: Prince of Hell
Domain: Ruler over the Northern Reaches of Hell
Commands: 80 Legions of Demons
Sins: Lies and Guilt
Element: Earth

Belial
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belial

Demons and their Months

Month: January
Demon: Belial

Month: February
Demon: Leviathan

Month: March
Demon: Satan

Month: April
Demon: Belphagor

Month: May
Demon: Lucifer

Month: June
Demon: Berith

Month: July
Demon: Beelzebub

Month: August
Demon: Astaroth

Month: September
Demon: Thammuz

Month: October
Demon: Baal

Month: November
Demon: Asmodai

Month: December
Demon: Moloch

Which Demon represents you.

The most powerful family in Hell BTW is comprised of Samael and Lilith, their daughter Lesser Lilith, her husband Asmodai and Asmodai's mother Naamah.

Lilith was the first wife of Adam before Eve
Namaah had a fling with Adam while Adam was with Lilith and had the poweful Demon Asmodai as a result.

Samael
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samael

Lilith
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilith

Asmodai
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asmodai

Naamah
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naamah_%28demon%29

So this is a fasctinating topic for us Monarchists. I believe we should talk about this because I find it very interesting.

Forum: General

Here is a charming little clip from the Polish film Austeria (the title comes from the word for Inn in a Polish dialect), portraying the Austrian Imperial Court and Emperor Franz Josef in the opening days of World War I.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7U_zviHnhCk&feature=related

Forum: Europe

Good news from Down Under

Collapse! Young Australians kill off republic.
Written by Professor David Flint AM
Thursday, 08 May 2008

Support for a republic has collapsed among young Australians, a point we made this morning on 2GB, and in Crikey, the nation's leading political on line newsletter.

The latest Morgan Poll also shows a referendum will be lost on whatever model is put to the people.

Worse for republicans, it also means their silver bullet, a plebiscite would also go down. Kevin Rudd will be thinking twice about running one with the next election.

If he doesn't, his minders will.
A plebiscite is not like, say, a referendum on the retiring ages of judges. Nothing will excite the media more than one on a republic.
So it will soak up too much valuable media time, and this on an exercise he is doomed to lose.
All the signs are that the government will put republicanism onto the back burner, as Malcolm Turnbull already has.

...young not interested in a republic...

The latest Morgan Poll shows the young especially can't see the point of a republic. Those who say, like Nicola Roxon, that no new monarchists are being born, will have to revise their views.
Even at the time of the referendum polling showed that the strongest support for a republic came from the baby boomers, especially those in inner city electorates. The young voters have always been less interested.
And the trend since then has been down.

The West Australian 2006 survey of youth attitudes showed that support for a republic in the 18 to 30 age group had fallen to 38%.

Then the Morgan poll of 22 February 2005 found that only 37% of those aged 14-17 were in favour of a republic.

Now in 2008, this has fallen to a dismal 23%, with 64% supporting the constitutional monarchy and 13% undecided.

Some undecided voters may be just unwilling to reveal their intentions; in any event they tend to vote No in a referendum.

And it is not only that young people are disinterested in a republic. It is that they are positively interested in their past and their heritage.

The republican attempt to shred our flag has collapsed. It looks now as if the republican attempt to shred our constitution is going the same way.
The overall result is equally dismal for republicans. Support for a republic is at 45%, the lowest for 15 years.

...more bad news for republicans...

Apart from the youth vote, the Morgan Poll is bad news for those republicans who say John Howard tricked voters in 1999 with the model.
Of course he didn't. The model was the choice of the overwhelming majority of republicans at the 1998 Convention.

The point is that unlike NewsPoll which does not define the word "republic" in its question, Morgan refers to the supposedly most popular model, the one where the people elect the president.

Take the polls together and you have to conclude no model will get up.

These results contrast glaringly with the 2020 Summit where the governance panel voted 98:1 with one abstention in favour of republican change.

Actually they recommended ending links with the UK. This was curious for such a gathering. The last links went in 1986.

Forum: British Isles and the Commonwealth

Evidence that Duke of Windsor aided Hitler forged.

AUSTRALIANS FOR CONSTITUTIONAL MONARCHY
An opinion column from the national convenor

The "evidence" against him was forged

Some republicans, including a certain self styled republican royal watcher, will use anything to divert the taxpayers hard earned money from hospitals, schools , water etc to fund their attempts to change our constitutional system and shred our flag.
One has been to suggest that the Duke of Windsor, briefly King Edward VIII, was actually working for Adolph Hitler.
To use this fantasy as a reason for constitutional change in Australia is really building a skyscraper on sand.
As the eminent Australian political scientist, John Paul observed in 2005 in Quadrant, Australias preeminent political journal ( The Duke of Windsor and the Nazis):
I hold no brief for King Edward VIII. Ziegler has established conclusively that he was temperamentally unsuited to the role of a constitutional monarch.
He therefore performed a lasting service for the House of Windsor in abdicating in favour of his brother.
I do, however, deplore the readiness of some people to brand the Duke of Windsor unjustly as a putative traitor on the strength of the half-hearted and near-farcical activities of some German officials in June and July of 1940, especially as these had their fons et origo in the febrile fantasies of an idiot like Ribbentrop.

...all based on forged documents...
The principal source of this story about the Duke was a book by one Martin Allen, Hidden Agenda: How the Duke of Windsor Betrayed the Allies.
It is now clear, as many suspected when it was publshed, that the book is based on forged documents.
So it seems are two other books by Allen, The Hitler/Hess Deception, which claims the flight to the UK of Hitler's deputy, Rudolf Hess, in 1941 was part of a plot to oust Churchill, and Himmler's Secret War.
According to David Leppard, writing in The Sunday Times and republished in The Australian on 5 May, 2008 (Dear Mr Hitler: forgeries fool Brits) the books rely heavily on forgeries inserted by a "master forger" into the records of the British National Archives.
Letterheads were created on a high-resolution laser printer, not in existence in the Second World War. Signatures were written over pencil tracings.
Handwriting of different officials was found to be suspiciously similar. Diplomatic titles and key dates were wrong.
According to Mr. Leppard, this began with a letter, which Allen claims he found in his attic.
It was addressed to "Dear Mr Hitler" and signed, "EP", for Edward Prince, an abbreviation the Duke of Windsor occasionally used.
The letter makes veiled references to a tour of the French frontline defences that the duke had just made.
"It asks Hitler to pay close attention to information the man bringing the letter to him has memorised. The courier was a German spy, and Allen argues that through him the duke gave Hitler top-secret strategic information that enabled the Germans to attack France at the weakest points in its defences.
"France fell in six weeks and British forces were routed."
Before the book was published, The Sunday Times considered serialising it.
But when they commissioned experts to examine the document, they abandoned the project.
According to Mr. Leppard, a forensic documents examiner found "many discrepancies" that made him "highly suspicious".
Another expert concluded that the letter was "most probably a forgery". A paper analyst found evidence the letter had been written on a blank page from an old book, which is apparently a classic forger's trick.
But Allen insisted the letter was genuine. He claimed it had been given to his late father by Albert Speer, Hitler's former munitions minister.
He said he had found it in his attic. The book was then published, and gave some joy to Australian republicans.
One thing is certain.
Some Australian republicans will still brand the Duke a traitor merely to advance their agenda for constitutional and flag change here.
They have little else than fantasy to rely on at the moment.
This is because they have gone backwards since 1999, and now cannot even say what constitutional changes they actually want.

Forum: British Isles and the Commonwealth
