DON'T FORGET

Saturday at 4:30, Holly "Hairstory" will begin meeting with anyone who would like a suggestion about hair and make-up. Remember that Angela is in charge of hair and make up but Holly is giving advice and then talking to Angela about what she talks to you about. So be at Hairstory if you would like to talk to Holly about your individual needs. If you don't need to talk to her at this time, please don't come and meet with her at a different time. She will be very busy with the Witch, Aslan, Aslan's followers, Witch Army, and Nymphs. Well, that gets just about everybody, huh?
Also, Sunday is full TECH rehearsal beginning at 2:00 and everybody needs to be there on time so we can start on time. It would be great if you could be there by 1:45, sit in the first 3 rows and LISTEN for "places". Remember this is a cue-to-cue so we would want everybody to sit in the auditorium until it is actually your time to go to the stage. MOST of the costumes will be finished by then. some of them will need to be tweaked a little.
ALSO, bring things that your parents said we could use for the Christmas Parade and we will begin decorating the float (ADULTS ONLY PLEASE---THIS MEANS OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL (PUBLIC, PRIVATE, HOME SCHOOLED, ETC). This project is for ADULTS to help advertise the show in the parade. So PLEASE don't come if you are under the age of 18. Thanks.
One more thing (ha ha ha you thought I was through LOL), we will be going to Peach Palace after the show on Friday night. They will be ready for us and I will have available for you, a menu and order form for your food. That way they will be ready for us, we can get served and OUT in an hour or so.
Hope you all will be ready to go to Peach Palace.
There was something else, but I forget what it is. But never fear, I'll remember it and "all will be revealed"

Forum: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

Happy Thanksgiving!

To cast, crew, parents, volunteers, and interesting observers of LWW:

I hope all of you have a happy, safe, restful, fulfilling (heh, heh, get it?), and blessed Thanksgiving break. I know some folks think it might be counterproductive to take so much time off before tech week, but I think it can be a very good thing, provided we do a few things between now and Sunday:

1. Take some time to look over your script. Work on your trouble spots; reinforce some lines you aren't confident about. I certainly don't want you to spend four days on this, but some quality time dedicated just to you and your script will help you more than you will realize. '

2. Take a little alone time, if possible, to think about your character. Many of you are well down the road with your character, and are doing wonderful things with it. Some of you, honestly, either don't appear to be working on it at all or else don't know where to go with it. Think about how your character should react to events happening in your scenes, and connect the scenes together. You have experiences not only from scene to scene, but prior to the show, so think about how you got there. Dust off what you wrote in early October, see if that still applies to what you have developed, or if you either have gotten off track or have gone in a different (and perhaps better) direction. And always, if you have troubles, you can always talk to me at rehearsal, e-mail me, or call me if you like.

3. Take care of yourself. Get plenty of rest, stay out of bitter weather, treat coughs or sniffles before they turn into something uglier. You need to come into Tech Week as strong as you can be, because you will need to work hard next week.

4. Enjoy yourself. This one is very important. Relax, renew relationships, do some things that make you happy, and things that will relieve any stress in your life. Stay as far away from stressful people and situations as you can, although that isn't always possible.

On Sunday we will talk some about the upcoming week and what to be prepared for. For now, enjoy your time and remember to be thankful for life's blessings. I love you all, and wish you the best.

Wayne

Forum: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

Christmas Parade

I see that RLT is fifth in Lineup. Yay for us winning last year-that gets you a good spot in the lineup!

I'm not sure who is in charge of the float, but I hope to start another tradition and add a plaque on the wall next to the one from last year. I reminisce about working on the float with the Gurly's and all of our other wonderful families from Here's Love. There was doubt, because it hadn't been done before...but boy, did we bring home the gold! I wish good luck to the float crew and maybe I can make it back up to Rome that night, John and Wayne, and join you guys!! Christmas shows were always some of my favorites. I made some great memories! I'll never forget chugging egg nog in The Homecoming.

John and Wayne, I wish you the best for the show and know it will be great! It's the holidays, things always are around this time.

Break A Leg!

Forum: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

Can anyone help put up posters this week?

Hey,folks, is there anyone who would be willing to distribute posters throughout the area this week before the holiday weekend? There should be a lot of people milling around town this weekend, and we need to get our posters out so we can be visible. You can print out as many as you want from the home page (inside the LWW banner), but if you don't have access to a color printer, or the internet, let me know and I can get some color copies printed. We need to "blanket" the area as much as possible, because tis the season for a lot of seasonal productions, and we don't want to get lost in the shuffle. Just let us know something, and I will see you tonight!

Thanks,

Wayne

Forum: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

Photos for Program, Outside

Next Tuesday, November 25, Megan Keating will be at RLT to take our photos for the program and for the outside display case. Please make every effort to be there and to be on time. This will be our LAST rehearsal before tech week and the Thanksgiving break, so it is important that we remain focused every rehearsal.

Shirts have been ordered, and we have asked to have them back also by next Tuesday (big day, huh?), so we can wear them all the holiday weekend to get us some free publicity. Speaking of publicity, who will be willing to print off some posters from the website and distribute them around town before or during the weekend? Believe it or not, we only have TWO weekends to publicize our show! So any help would be appreciated!

I know John announced it last night, but Reel Trees is Saturday night. Please come if you can. Last year's event was so much fun, and all the proceeds will go to the preservation fund for the DeSoto Theatre. The primary goal of this event is to finish the ceiling and walls of the arcade (the entrance), and as you can see, the funds we raised last year were a big help in what we have been able to accomplish so far!

Folks, we have 3 more rehearsals before tech, before Thanksgiving. These are all full-cast, full-show, runs. Please study your scripts! Please spend some time developing your character! Please come to rehearsal ready to rehearse, so that when you are on stage we don't have to spend 10 minutes waiting for you to get ready to do the scene. When you are in the wings, please be quiet, respectful, and courteous. Do what your stage manager tells you, and don't give her any attitude. Neither John nor I have the time nor the desire to hang out back stage, but if it becomes necessary we will. That would not be a positive development. If you need help with learning your lines, or developing your character, please come to me, or call me. I am always glad to help in any way. If I don't hear from you, I am assuming you have things under control. And please know that no question is silly or stupid (usually). Many of you are new to the theatre, or haven't been in a show like this, so everybody has to learn things. That's what we are here for, to help you learn more about theatre, and be that much more ready the next time you audition. But of course the main thing is that we want you to succeed and look great and feel great about your performance in THIS show. If you succeed, then we succeed. All of you were cast in this show by a committee that included us, and this committee decided that each of you have what it takes to give a great performance. We just have to get all of you there by the next three rehearsals. Not at all impossible, but it will take effort from you as well as us. So let's all work hard, be supportive of each other, and show up ready to give it your best! I love you all, and I'll see you tomorrow!

Wayne

Forum: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

Important Things to Read

Hello, everybody! Well, we have 5 more rehearsals before tech week! And tonight, we rehearse without scripts! How exciting! Maybe I'm more excited than you, but trust me, getting those nasty things out of your hands will free you so much! But they are only nasty ON STAGE. Off stage, they are your trusty friend, to be cherished and loved and to spend a lot of quality time with. Remember also, we will have someone on book every rehearsal until December 1, so please ask for a line (and DON"T break character) if you need to. Also, initially, I will ask for our book person to interject when a key line gets missed or a key word gets omitted or replaced, so we feed each other properly. Some quick reminders for everyone, or almost everyone:

1. Some of you haven't paid your production fee. To those who have, thank you very much; you can skip down to number 2. To those who haven't, please pay now! We need to get a lot of stuff finalized and paid for, and your contribution is needed! Remember, you all expect to have a costume to wear, props to use, a set to perform on, etc., so please take care of your share of responsibility for that. If you have problems, please come to me and we can talk, but everyone who was cast said they would be willing to pay this fee. I will read the list tonight of those of you who haven't.

2. Some of you have not turned in a bio. To those who have, thank you very much; you may skip to number 3. To those who have not, I have a message for you. I will not do your bio for you. I have asked John not to do your bio for you. I have requested that Megan not do your bio for you. I will answer questions for you, will read it if you want me to, make suggestions if you ask, but it is your responsibility to do it. Again, most of you have done this, and the ones who haven't will only have a picture and their name and character. Don't be one of those. I will read this list tonight as well.

3. I am taking up shirt orders tonight. Please get those in to me tonight, with payment. The quicker we order, the quicker we get those back.

4. Get those school show forms in. Again, every student who was cast did not list school shows as a conflict, and this is a show obligation just like our evenings & matinees. We will most likely have close to 2,000 students total watching our school shows, which will more than likely exceed our regular show total. We need to make sure you have cleared your attendance, because we need everyone there. Remember, you were told at auditions that this was required, so if you are in the cast, you must be there!

5. John and I will have important stuff to communicate to cast, parents, and crew tonight, so we will do our best to be timely, and we ask the same of you. We need to work hard AND smart these next 5 rehearsals, because no matter what goes on with any other phase of production, our ability to learn our dialogue and develop our characters will decide what kind of show we have. I don't mean to scare or stress anyone, that's just the way it is. It's what acting is all about, and it's time for all actors to step up.

6. I went back through and reread the book again, because many of you had questions that the script wasn't that specific about, and I wanted to be as true to the original author's intent as possible, so I have some answers I will share tonight and beyond.

I hope everyone's weekend went well, and you all come back rested and ready for "crunch time"! Love you all, and see you tonight!

Wayne

Forum: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

Change in Directions

Hey Folks.
Kay just informed me that the railroad in Lindale will be blocked for construction this week (how did I miss that one!) So, here's another way to get to my house

Go to Georgia Highlands College and turn LEFT onto Booze Mountain Road (if you haven't been to Booze Mountain lately, it isn't where it used to be; the road is BEFORE the old road). Once on Booze Mountain Road, go to the traffic light, turn right on Old Cedartown Road, and left at the next traffic light (Lakeview Drive). My house HASN'T moved so the other directions are the same. Thanks again for helping

Forum: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

Stage and Costumes

We hope your weekend has been fun and you are ready for some focused rehearsals. The only thing that Wayne and I constantly talk about is getting the cast in CHARACTER and focused on stage. This show is YOURS and you've got to be whatever you are in the show. I'm not getting ON to you, just trying to encourage you.
The stage looks great thanks to all those (Don, David, Caroline, etc) who have worked diligently each Saturday to try to create my vision on stage. It is almost there. It will be THERE hopefully next Saturday. WORD OF CAUTION: Eventhough the stage construction IS safe, everything BELONGS to a character. IF you are not in that role, stay OFF the set pieces. Don will give us further instructions at rehearsal tomorrow (tonight --- when you read this) about this but look out for YOUR safety and stay off the set unless it is yours to be used. PLEASE: we don't want ANYBODY to get hurt. thanks in advance

COSTUMES: For those of you (mothers) that have volunteered to help with costumes, NOW is the time. We will meet at my house Tuesday morning at 9:00 AM and work until around 1:00. I need time to put the house back in order before Kay gets home from work LOL (just kidding) I have the fabric and certain costumes ready to finish up and/or cut out and sewn.

DIRECTIONS TO MY HOUSE: If you are coming from Rome, take the exit off Hwy. 27 towards Lindale/Maple Road. (coming down Turner McCall, just stay in the right lane until you HAVE to exit (don't take the Dean Street exit; it's the NEXT exit.) Turn LEFT onto Maple Road which turns into Park Ave. after the railroad at FBCLindale. Keep going on Park Ave. which turns in Old Cedartown Road at Booze Mountain Road. Continue on Old Cedartown Road until you come to a traffic light with Conns Lake on the Right and Lakeview Estates on the left. Turn left on Lakeview Drive and stay on Lakeview until you past Stepp Road (4 way stop) Little Big Road (on your right) and Indian River Road (on your right). I am the only tri-level home on the right at 42 Lakeview Drive (name on the white mailbox). That sounds like a long way but it really isn't.

See you all either Monday at rehearsals or Moms at my house on Tuesday morning.

thanks

Forum: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

Winter Wonderettes

TheatreCentre announces it's upcoming production "Winter Wonderettes", The New 60's Christmas Musical by Roger Bean. Performances are Thursday, Friday & Saturday, December 4,5 & 6 at 7:00 p.m. (CST). Performed at the Centre First United Methodist Church, 341 West Main Street, Centre, AL.
This four woman musical in two acts takes place Christmas 1968. The setting is Harper's Hardware, a large hardware store on Main Street in Springfield. Betty Jean has worked at Harper's Hardware since graduating from Springfield High School in 1958. The four girls formed their singing group to perform at their senior prom, reuniting for their ten-year reunion earlier this year. Mr. Harper placed Betty Jean in charge of this year's company Christmas party, and she gathered the girls to create this Christmas Concert. Join us as we stroll down memory lane with twenty-four Christmas classics. Enjoy the beautiful harmonies on "Snowfall" and "O Tannenbaum", the soulfulness of "All Those Christmas Cliches" and "Christmas Will Be Just Another Lonely Day" and the rock n roll of "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town" and "Run Rudolph Run". These four young women will take you on a rockin' ride into 1968 and leave you laughing and wanting to dance. General admission tickets are $10.00 and can be obtained by emailing Director Karen Bowling at miner375@hughes.net

Forum: Upcoming Productions
