Supreme Court Ruling on 2nd Ammendment

It appears the the Supreme Court is going to pull off the Kansas City Shuffle. Not to be confused with the Beltway Two Step. To wit; they have basically affirmed the 2nd amendments "right to bear arms" meaning while vacillating on the topic of controlling firearms. To me it is like free speech. You either have it or you don't. If you say speech is free as long as it doesn't offend someone in government office (which It should) then it is not free speech. If you have the right to bear arms only to the extent that the government dictates the context of that freedom, then the freedom doesn't exist.

Personally I believe in the right of unborn children to bear arms

Forum: Member's Forum

Dishonest Abe and His Well Known Admirers...

Seems to me that I read that Fidel Castru was also an admirer of Lincoln.
Can't seem to find a reference to that right now.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Re
hank all of you who   responded to my request for "Help with a citation"   concerning Lincoln and Hitler.
Having read Mein Kampf and numerous works concerning   the "Great Emancipator," I knew that I had seen it somewhere. But, the word   "Lincoln" does not appear anywhere in the index of my copy of Mein Kampf   and a thumb-scan of a 694 page book falls clearly into the category of a   "needle in a haystack." Google turned up nothing. It came down to the last sorce   that I possess, which I had forgot about having. I found what I was looking for   in DiLorenzo's "Lincoln Unmasked" pages 81-84 where Di'Lorenzo cites Mein   Kampf.
Indeed Der Fuehrer turns to Lincoln's 1st Inagural   address for intellectual ammunition. He wrote: "The individual states of the   American Union could not have possessed any state sovereignty of their own. For   it was not these states tht formed the union, on the contrary it was the Union   which formed a great part of the so-called states." Lincoln said, "The Union is   much older than the Constitution." Logically, this is   absurd. It is like saying that a marriage existed before either of the partners   were born.
In addition, Dr. John provided the following: It appears that   a centrist is a centrist, no matter what word one puts in front of the "ism."   Dr. John writes:
Gunny:
I don't have a citation.  But, I have a lead.  Benito Mussolini   admired Lincoln (and had a mutual admiration society with Lenin).  I just   read this in Jonah Goldberg's book.  According to Goldberg...Lincoln,   Woodrow Wilson, Mussolini, and Hitler shared many identical fascist and   centralist/consolidationist ideas.  Goldberg also points to how much closer   the ideology of Hitler lies to nationalist-progressivism than the   oft-cited 'right wing' or conservatives.  Other 'fun facts to know and   tell'...Edward Bellamy's "Looking Backward" was a fanciful look on the emergent   universal, progressive (fascist) state.  His cousin, Francis Bellamy, wrote   the 'Pledge of Allegiance' and co-founded The Society of Christian   Socialists.  From Goldberg: "In an expression of his (Francis Bellamy)   'military socialism', the Pledge of Allegiance was accompanied by a fascist or   "Roman" salute to the flag in American public schools.  Indeed, some   contend that the Nazis got the idea for their salute from America."    NOTE:  The latter was researched by Rex Curry (www.rexcurry.net/pledgesalute.html
Regards,
John
  Comment-Discuss on the Forum
http://www.websitetoolbox.com/mb/rebshadow
-----------------
Forum: Member's Forum
Gas Prices!
Ho Hum....
Dunno why I bother to post this--nobody sweats the  rising gas prices anymore, at least I don't hear anyone p!ssin' and  moaning about it. I guess we have long since realized there's nothing I  (we) can do about it anyway.
/s/
Gus-Dusted
(as 'Lil Beaver used to say)
********************************
GORDA, Calif.- Gas prices in California are at an all-time high. The  statewide average price for a gallon of regular is now 58 cents more  per gallon, than the same time last year.
But, there is one  place on the Central Coast where you can expect to pay more than $5 a  gallon. The Americo gas station in the tiny coastal town of Gorda,  about 40 miles south of Big Sur, is selling gasoline for $5.19 a gallon  for regular, and $5.39 for premium.
Despite high prices,  the local gas stop grabs customers, without any competition. And  according to locals, the pain at the pump isn't over yet as they plan  to raise the prices another 20 cents in the coming weeks.
      03/05/08
GORDA,  Calif.- If you're going to be heading down the Big Sur Coastline  anytime soon, you'll probably going to want to have a full tank before  you leave with the price of crude oil skyrocketing. With gasoline  following the same direction, the Americo gas station in Gorda, just  south of Big Sur is selling premium unleaded gas for $5.39 a gallon. If  you can do without premium regular's a relative bargain at $5.19.
Prices  in many Bay Area cities remain above the statewide average with the  price for a gallon of gas in Oakland at $3.51; San Francisco, $3.64;  Salinas, $3.56; San Jose, $3.52; and Santa Cruz, $3.51. The average  price for a gallon of gas in Santa Rosa sits just under the statewide  average at $3.49 and in Vallejo a gallon is averaging $3.47, according  to AAA.
  03/05/08
BAY  AREA, Calif.-The statewide average price for a gallon of gasoline has  hit a all time high, AAA of Northern California announced Tuesday.
The  average price throughout the state for one gallon of unleaded gas is  $3.50, 1 cent more than the subsequent record for California, which was  set in May of 2007.
"We're about 60 cents a gallon above where  we were this time last year and last year was no bargain at the pump,"  said Sean Comey, AAA of Northern California spokesman, in a prepared  statement.
"We may not have seen the worst of it yet," Comey  said. "It's particularly troubling from the consumer's perspective that  this is happening at this time of the year, when we often see prices  that are relatively low."
OPEC will not put more oil on the  global market, citing the stumbling U.S. economy as the reason for  slackening demand in the near future.
The Organization of  Petroleum Exporting Countries announced today that it decided not to  pump more - or less - oil right now because crude supplies are  plentiful and demand is expected to weaken in the second quarter.
    Ref
http://tinyurl.com/23k65j
--
**********
R.
