FOR DISCUSSION: Is Classical Music Dead?

In last month's Arts Journal, a magazine read by probably nobody except those of us who make a living in arts related fields, the authors proclaim the death of classical music.

Ralph Solano Memorial Photography Show

The Solano Photography Show will be April 28 - May 2. Bill Carroll has generously offered the use of his "Ranch Store" building on first street to house the show.

Are any artists participating and want to share your comments? If you have not received a prospectus with information about exhibiting your work, stop by the Old Pass Gallery anytime to pick one up.

Patrons, what are you hoping to see at the exhibit? What type of photography are you particularly interested in?

"Women in the Arts" OPG exhibit

Has anyone been to this exhibit at the Old Pass Gallery? What are you thoughts of the exhibit? Do you like having a show that exclusively features women artists?

The show will be featured at the Old Pass Gallery through the end of April.

How many of our events this past year did you attend? Were there any performances you particularly liked or disliked? What thoughts do you have about bringing any of these performers back, or what types of performances would you like to see in the future?

I have wanted to start a discussion board for some time, where people can post and discuss issues related to the arts and culture in Raton or just post your thoughts on any related issues.

The discussion board is an open forum. Anyone can register and post your thoughts. Please check back often. I hope this can become an active conversation area. Use this area as a way to share your thoughts with the Arts Council. I promise to read all the comments and answer as many as possible.
