I have just attended an evening with Sylvia Anderson which was a modest but hugely enjoyable event. Sylivia spoke for well over an hour and then took part in a question and answer session, followed by autographs. I also met Mary Turner, Keith Wilson and Judith Shutt and got their autograhs. I had never met Sylvia before and it was lovely to meet her after the disappointment of her not being able to make Cult TV last year due to poor health. She looked great and delighted her eighty capacity audience by her charm and wit. Mary Turner assisted from the audience on a couple of production points. A terribly difficult journey on a mercilously cold winter's night but well worth it.

Quotes Needed for Article - Economic Impact on Collecting

Hi Everyone,
Many of you know that I'm a writer as well as a FAB Gear partner. I'm currently working on an article about how the current economic downturn has affected collectors and their spending habits, and I need quotes for my story.
Has the slowdown slowed down your acquiring habits or are you grabbing bargains as prices fall? Let me know what's going on and I'll try to use quotes from as many of you as possible. Post your real name at the bottom of your response so I can attribute the quotes correctly, please.

Quiet on the Thunderbirds front!

It's quiet everywhere! Even ebay is quiet. Was a time when The Bay was full of old JR21 stuff and everything else Thunderbirds. I guess it's quiet because nothing on tv.
Thats ok though. When Thunderbirds was hot I sold my pair of JR21 TB2s. For a fortune! And I know they went to a collector so they'll be taken care of.

Any news on the new series? Or the new Captain Scarlet coming to the USA?

Alistair Darling to join International Rescue?

Today's Sun newspaper (that reliable British tabloid) has on its front page our Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling in an International Rescue uniform with the title Thundersplurge is Go! This is referring to the World financial crisis and the attempt to solve it. Personally I think the uniform rather suits him.

Wanted: Corgi TB2

Hi,
It's been a long time since I've been here but my himing & hawing over the Corgi release over the TB 2 release caused me to miss the boat by a mile. Now that I want one, I can't find it. To complicate matters more, the prices over at e-bay are overboard too! (No pun intented on myself either! yikes!)
Anyway, If anyone has one of these in good condition including pod + TB 4 and don't want to feed the shark over it and can part with it please contact me here or at f1f14@hotmail.com with your asking price.

P.S. a seller on ebay is selling a original Dinky TB2 plus TB 4 & pod with a buy it now price over a thousand dollars. It's not even in mint condition or unused. I had one of these back in 72 and even though it's a great model for it's time the selling price could buy whole lot of new Thunderbird stuff. (And the Hood a pizza to boot!)

FABGear hasn't posted anything about it yet but, I was out on the Iconic Replicas website last night and saw the following note posted:

Captain Scarlet Puppet Cancellation
It is with regret that we have to announce the cancellation of our Gerry Anderson Puppet Replica Collection.
For legal reasons we are unable to go into detail however, we can say that the on going production of similar illegal and unlicensed products has undermined the viability of the range.
This is a great shame as so much development had been carried out. We here at Iconic Replicas were very excited about the range and attempted to resolve the issues we were presented with to no avail.
We hope that collectors will not be too disappointed by the announcement.

This collector certainly is!!! I was looking forward to this big time!! The whole reason I went to their site was to see if they had an estimated shipping date.

I wonder what these "similar illegal and unlicensed products" they mentioned are. Some people have to ruin it for everyone!!!
