soundproofing ceiling

Hello

I live in an apartment and am getting alot of airborne/impact noise from apartment above. My neighbours can sometimes be up all night. Apartment is 1920's renovated in the 1980's and hence has no insulation. I have spoken to an acoustics person who advised that I rip down ceilings and bulk up light weight timber floor and then put in insulation bats and then 2 x acoustic plasterboard and then suspend ceiling mounted on resilient mounts.

does a plasterer carry out this type of work, and how do I know that they specialise in this kind of work? and where do I find one? it's such a big job, i really don't want to have to do it twice.

acoustics person has advised that they will draw up plan, and then brief the person who does the work. / or do i go to one of the acoustic ceiling companies.

any help and advice is appreciated.

Learning to create a web site is not the easiest thing I have ever done!

But we are getting better at it. I have started to put up sequence photos that expand when the mouse runs over them.

I think this will improve our DIY pages heaps.

It will take a while to gather up enough subject matter, I will now be trying to get other tips promised done with photos.

I had taken a bit of a break building the site, however I have had such a great response, I feel the need to get into it again.

The past 12 months have been spent building up our very successful PlasterLink business.

We have perfected our system now and have a great crew of quality plasterers. Some builders have been a little hesitant at first, as or methods are differnent.

Once they see how dedicated we are to providng the best possible service and that we fully back our projects, they are impressed.

We publish our committment to quality and reliabilty often, as we use it to ensure our contractors live up to our high standards.

Cornice Buttering

Whats the easiest way to butter/apply the adhesive to the back edges of the cornice ?

I started installing my house-full of cornices over the weekend. With the first couple I buttered the edges with a 50mm putty blade. I thought there's got to be a better way, so as I have a large mastic tube (aluminum) with the next batch of cornice cement mixed I filled the tube and applied it by this method. It was quick and easy. The only hassle was to clean the tube after using each fill and not to let the adhesive go off in the tube.
