Fatty acid energy

Hi Paul

Here in the UK we are given guidelines of how much fat intake we should
allow ourselves (DRV dietary reference values).
These are expressed as a % of daily total energy intake and for an adult male
they are
total fat 33%
saturated 10%
polyunsaturated 6%
trans fatty 2%
monounsaturated 12%

The total fat % figure can be found in the standard progress report under
average calorie percents.
Is there anywhere that I can find a breakdown of the different types of
fat as a % of total calorie intake.
If not, would it be possible to include it in the standard progress report
on a future update.

Regards
Richard

Forum: Kathleen's Diet Planner

Adding text to quick charts

Hi Paul

I've got various quick charts set up to track average nutrient levels and trends.
If I see that I'm under a particular nutrient level and I need to take extra, it would be nice
to see the foods that I need to take extra of, listed on the chart somewhere.

Can I add my own text to a quick chart ?
I couldn't see anything in the chart editor.

Richard

Forum: Kathleen's Diet Planner

Hi Paul,
I'm wanting to filter the database by nutrient content (ie, looking for foods high in Mg, Folate, etc) and then I'd like to export the results to a delimited file (or excel format) so that I can further analyse. (I don't really want to build a formated report.) I don't see a way to do this (the export, not the filtering). Any advice?

Sharvo

Forum: Kathleen's Diet Planner

importing blood pressure readings

I see that there is a way of importing blood glucose readings from a csv file, but I didn't see a way of using that 'additional program' to import blood pressure data from a csv file.

Am I overlooking something?
Fav. Food DB window -> Food DB window ?

Using KDiet daily and still think it's great!

This is a best practices question re: data entry of recipes. After entering several dozen recipes ( with many more to go ) I find that I typically follow the following steps:

1) create new Recipe
2) open Ingredients tab
3) open Favorites DB window
4) add some foods to recipe ingredients
5) discover a food that I want in my Fav. DB
6) close Fav. DB window
7) open Food DB window
8) add missing food to Fav. DB
9) close Food DB window
10) open Fav. DB window
11) goto: step 4)

I often find myself cycling multiple times between steps 4 and 11 for each recipe.

Is there a way to open the Food DB window directly from the Fav. DB window? Alternatively, is there a way to keep Both the Food DB window and the Fav. DB window open simultaneously (with one window minimized? )

This is not a major issue for me, but since I plan to enter many more recipes I'd like to streamline my efforts if possible.

Thanks,

-Larry

Forum: Kathleen's Diet Planner

Blood Glucose feature?

I'm a recently diagnosed type II diabetic.

I became interested in your software because of it's blood glucose feature.

I've been through the flash tutorials and the blood glucose demo seemed rather blas. It just covered importing csv data.

What can I do with my BG readings after importing them? Can I chart or report meals with high post-prandial readings (>150 mg/dl) at different meals of day during the past two weeks containing peanut butter?

In that fashion I could see patterns. "Don't eat peanut butter at breakfast," or "peanut butter sucks at any meal--omit from diet." etc., etc.

Can I enter BG readings directly as meal items?

You get the idea. Is it possible in your software?

How about blood pressure?

Thanks,

Andy

Forum: Kathleen's Diet Planner

Net Calories Report

Hey Paul, how are you!?

Got off the K-track 6mos ago due to illness and passing of my mom...and the scale is telling of my plight. So began tracking again last week and, of course, wanted to look back at the Net Calories report-(I think I downloaded it as an 'extra' maybe.)

Yesterday looks like this:
Date: XX (Note from that meal day entry)

Calories Eaten: 1180 - Calories Burned: 325 = Net Calories: 956
You have gained .27 lbs or about .12 kg

Obviously, my question is about the wonderful little mssg saying you've gained wt, unless the calories for the day are in the negative. Meaning you always have to excersise more....oohhhh, just thought of something...

I think BMR will have to be entered into the exercises...such as a custom entry like, Basic Metabolic Rate 1,400 Cals--or whatever mets for 24hrs will give 1400 cal result. Otherwise the report will always say you gained wt on less than 1000 cals/day Net. So take a break, my oversight, but will send this anyway just to bug ya. Thanks, and a blessed 08'!

Forum: Kathleen's Diet Planner

Flash Drive Question - new user

Can this program be installed on a flash drive? If so would it be possible to have only one license and still be able to use the program on my desktop pc, my laptop and at work and keep my data and the program stored on the flash drive?
If that is not possible perhaps a mobile version of the program can be created.
This is a great program and making it mobile would make it even better for those who would like to use it at multiple locations.

Forum: Kathleen's Diet Planner

Sharing recipes?

Hi Paul,

Congratz on this very good software. Its a great aid and the ways to adopt it to the persons needs are near endless.
I feel like its mine. I can change almost anything the way i want it and that is very rare in the software business. A big thank you for this.
But as I am not the only user with specific needs I would think it would be very nice to be able to communicate with other people. Being on a specific diet (for instance a diabetic like me) its not alway easy to plan another meal (an other than the same old as last week or the week before). Would it therefor not be very nice if we could email a composed meal to other users with the same need for that kind of diet? Or post it on a certain website? And what kind of file could we use for that? So that any user could easily import it into his or her database.

Sure i could paste and email or rather insert such a file to another user of this forum. But wouldn't it be great if we could post it somewhere for other to look it up and import it directly into KDP?

Greetz,

Ronald
Belgium

Forum: Kathleen's Diet Planner
