Hot Diggety Damn, I finally did it.

I am going to close this forum to new posts pretty soon. you may want to duplicate some of your recent threads in the new forum, even some old ones that you find particularly useful.

sadly, all of our old posts will be lost forever. but it's part of the reason I want a new forum. This current forum is hosted off site for a fee. after all the money we have paid, there is no back up available to me, and the options are pretty slim. over the years we have started using more and more bandwidth, and i have been getting bills for "overusage" for some time. it's agravating because its some fine print garbage, and the cost of this forum is already plenty for what we get from it.

The new forum is super powerful. There are so many options that I am a little intimidated. bigger avatars, more powerful search features, better pm's, ther is a gallery plug in that I will try and set up eventually so each of us can have our own little gallery, etc. There is even a beta plug in to add a paid subscription area... so we could have one small section of the forum for paid members and see what comes of that. we'll see about it in the future.

There may be some bumps in the road at first, so give me a break. Its been a lot of work setting up and figuring out. i didn't know jack about databases until a month ago. umm actually I still don't. but in the end, it's all hosted on my server space, i have all the files, I have complete control, and I can back it up forever.

so in short. stop posting here, and start posting there. right now.

Smallmouth and Striper Artwork in progress.

This is a gargantuan smallmouth painting I recently finished for a client. The painting is 5 ft long and is the biggest I have ever finished. It was weird panting a fish larger than life-size.

This is a small scale study for a much larger and full color painting. I wanted to show tidal stripers in the Susquehanna river at sunrise. I will post a color version soon.

Just opened up the sports section of friday's USA Today and was amazed to find half a page devoted to fishing. Turns out the article is about Mike Iaconelli's new fishing show on Versus called City Limits. It airs fridays at 8:30 pm through march 28 and follows anglers on urban fishing adventures. One of the pictures with the article is one of Ike holding up a "4 lb smallmouth" caught in a "Philadelphia drainage ditch."

I dunno if you guys already heard about this cuz i've been away for a while but i'm pretty pumped to check it out.

College Fishing

Has anyone seen that College Bass Tournament held for most schools in the nation? It was alright. Teams were able to weigh in at least five Bass, and were in teams of two. I think the competition was in Texas last year. We needed something like that at Temple, or this area for that matter.

Musky rod for salt?

So after reading the posts about tog, seabass and stripers, I went to store and checked out some equipment. I came across the St. Croix premier 7'0 M/H fast action musky rod. Its rated for 20-50lb test and can handle lures 3/4-3oz. For tog, seabass and stripers, would you guys recommend this rod? Since I don't have a catfish rod, do you guys think I could use this as a catfish rod as well? I'm trying to find the rod that I could use for different types of fishing without spending too much money.

Also, you guys are throwing some pretty heavy stuff. Could that rod handle weight heavier that the "rating"?

I was thinking about going with that musky premier with an abu 6500 reel. Or could I use the 5501 that I already have? Reading your guys posts got me interested in saltwater (and catfish) and when I get my stuff together I'll probably hit you guys up for a trip.

Best Swimbaits

Just received some new Matzuo 4" swimbaits in the mail. My question is from anyones experience would these be good for walleye?
I have had success using the 2" swimmers on largemouth bass & stripers. These are a bit larger though.
