Hello.

I read through a lot of posts where some individual preference of practice and technique are described. So I thought it would be nice to gather our ideas.

As i'm i drummer, i know notthing about guitar apart from the fact that it has strings.

I will post some drum rudiments. But it would be nice to hear from some of you guitarists :D

I start on my snare and move to my toms. Then I move to my feet (double pedal). All are at 100bpm. I then keep my feet going and incorporate my hands, again on the snare. As i get warmed up I speed up to 120bpm and start popping off the toms.

RLRR LRLL (S)
RLRR LRLL (BD) (Once I'm warm feet are always moving, switching sides)
RLRR (S) LRLL (T)
R(S)L(T) RR(S) L(S)R(T)LL(S)
LRLL (S) RLRR (T)
R(S)L(T) RR(S) L(S)R(T)LL(S)
this is all done simultaneously (So 2 strokes at the same time)

It is an Intermediate exercise.

Please share your ideas, I'd love to try the drum ones and see the Guitar ones :P

Electric Guitar + Bass Straps

Ever had your worn strap slip off the strap button on your guitar or bass?

Try this...

Certain Grolsch beer bottles have a swing top instead of a cap.

The seal for the top is a red rubber ring.

(After you drink the beer, can't let it go to waste now can we?)

Put this on your strap button as a washer to hold the strap in place.

Works well, as used by guitarists for years and a colourful alternative to straplocks.

Obviously if you are under 18 (uk) then somebody else will have to buy (and drink) the beer.

Here's and idea...

Some of you have been playing your chosen instrument for years,

Over this time you will have picked up loads of tricks and/or tips to help your playing.

Some of you have just started playing, or are considering learning to play an instument and would like some help.

All i'm asking is for those of you that have the knowledge and experience gained from years of playing to help the learners.

Even things that seen simple to you can be a big thing for someone that is just starting out. (eg. changing a set of strings)

Obvously if 100 people explain how to change a set of strings on a Les Paul it could end up being boring and confusing, but if a couple of people have different ways that they do it on their LPs it would be very helpful for the learner that has never changed a string before.

I will post a few tips here, but it would be great if you could all do the same.

Drummers, Percussionists, Bassists, Guitarists, Singers.....

It doesn't matter. Its all useful!

I am doing some recording with my new band soon and I need to mic up the bass amp and guitar amp.

I am happy with the Stagg mics I got from you guys for my drums, so I was wondering if you had anything you could recommend?
