Whilst at work last week, I managed to collide with a chair bashing my kneecap somewhat.. Absolute agony going downstairs and it is near impossible to ride the bike for more than a couple of miles before having to get off and straighten my leg. Saw the doc today..and had my knee x rayed. suspected torn ligament..no running, no driving unless necessary and no motorbike riding...... bummer! (that's being polite)

Earplugs

Personally I don't use earplugs as I have my MP3 player on but my husband does and he swears by these. Because they are attenuated you don't feel cut off. This is the cheapest I have seen them but I know you can also order them from Motohaus.

Cheap gear (relatively speaking)

I've been on the lookout for a decent lid at a decent price to replace the bargain bucket Takachi that I bought straight after taking my test in the spring....I had tried and loved a Shoei XR1000 but had nowhere near the 240 necessary, but that nagging feeling of valuable head versus sh*t lid kept niggling away at me.

Then I came across a listing on ebay for a brand new XR in metallic silver for 150 delivered. The vendors user ID is granthamhondamotorcycles and a bit of googling showed them to be a genuine honda franchise in Lincolnshire.

So 150 and five days later and I now have a lovely, comfy, pinlocked "proper" lid.

They seem to use ebay to shift odd sizes or last of line stuff at very fair prices, not a lot of stuff, but quite a busy turnover so I recommend having a gander.

No more helmet envy for me

The Rule of Nod

OK, odd one this and a bit of tongue in cheek observation needed. Often when im riding about i get a friendly nod from a fellow biker. But never a Harley rider or ped. So, i return what i thought was a trend and its all good.

The funny thing is that certain types never return the greeting. In short is there some kind of nod rule that us newbies have no idea about? Perhaps my L plates mean i am undeserving of a nod until the plates are removed ;0) Perhaps this crucial rule could be included in the CBT lol.

My dad is looking for a half decent bike that he can go out and play on over the winter so that he can still ride without worrying about cleaning all the chrome on his shiny cruiser after.

Hi all, went out for a nice 2 hour ride late this afternoon, got home and realised my fingers were pretty damn cold. So winter glove recommendations please. Never trust mag reviews so would appreciate your experience. Dont fancy muffs.

What the hell was that!!!

Ok, had a bit of a scare tonight and hadn't even left the car park! Had just started up heading off, turned a left corner to head to the exit & the bike started weaving violently from side to side. Not sure how I stayed on & I think it was a close thing at a few points. I know my left foot ached after and my back ached so I think I put my feet out to stabilise. Wasn't going too fast but I think I possibly put a little too much power on & I was possibly not fully straight.

Anyone know what it was, what caused it & what I did to get out of it?

Was a very careful ride home!
