Looking to share hotel room at SC Champ.

I have been contacted by FM Andrey Chumachenko asking if anyone is interested in sharing a hotel room at the S.C. Championships next weekend. Contact me if you are interested and I'll pass it on to Andrey. We have over 20 pre-entries so far, with more expected by next week. We need more U1400 players, so encourage all those you know to sign up.

South Carolina internet chess tournaments for students

A pilot program of Internet chess tournaments, for South Carolina students, will soon begin. South Carolina Chess Association (SCCA) contacted World Chess Live (WCL) "a new family-friendly online chess service" and WCL is providing the necessary technical assistance. Later, to publish our success for other states, schools, and students to model.

The program goal, of chess tournaments via the Internet, is to limit cost and increase access to chess competition anywhere within our state.

In short, provide the benefits of chess to more South Carolina students in more of South Carolina.

I am creating an email distribution list those interested in this new phase of chess for scholastic in South Carolina.

I remember some years ago an appearance on letterman when, for the first time, Garry was introduced as the world's strongest chess-player. I was breathless and aghast. I believe that this new reality had a bad effect on Bobby, I wish to be, someday the world's best expert on Fischer, any thoughts on this latest theory ??????????

It is apparent that the mega-fame began to have a bad effect on bobby 1972 he said if I recall rightly. " you can't imagine the pressure I'm under, every move I make is scrutinized the world over " Remember that fame in the world at large in those days was unusual for chess players--- one is even more unprepared than say rock stars or actors, who are expecting too be famous if they are good in their craft. So this fame I suspect rather unhinged bobby. My wishes that he is in a better place.

She drew her second round game against an opponent rated 485 points higher!

Aliyev wins the LPO!

Congratulations to our own S.C. Champ, Timur Aliyev, who won the LPO annual chess event in Raleigh-Durham, NC, this past weekend. His 4.0 points (no losses) put him in sole possession of the first place prize, about $600.

South Carolina's Philipp Lamby and our good friend and N.C. Champ, Chris Mabe, tied for 2nd - 5th at 3.5 points.

Half of the Open field of fourteen were USCF master level players.

I am not very good at problems, but this idea might be fair. black king at e8, black pawns at e7 e6. white king at e1 white rooks at a1 and h1.. checkmate in fewest moves.. I hope this modest idea is not too poor for all those who see it... Thank you all for your time
