Saving money on caregiving

Found this website Medical Depot carrying a sales on some commodes and walkers that could save you some money if you are taking care of someone at home. They also have other assistive devices that should be useful for caregivers.

Falls

Many of our caregivers report falls as a frequent concern. Whether the concern stems from need for extra help in the home, education to reduce risk of falls, or recovering both physically and psychologically after a fall the need to prevent harm to self and loved one is clear in all of our minds. What tips do you have for other caregivers?

Skin break down/pressure ulcers

Prevention! Prevention! Prevention! Proper nutrition and hydration, frequent repositioning, and care in transferring are some of the keys to preventing skin break down. If skin breakdown is evident seek medical attention immediately. What helpful techniques can you suggest for other caregivers?

Getting attention from your physician

How do you communicate with your physician or your loved one's physician so you feel you are being heard and getting the results you know are needed? Many of our caregivers take a list, bring along an advocate, or in drastic times find another physician! What approaches have worked for you?
