Just FYI- the Port Townsend Cycling Club is hosting the 16th or 17th annual metric century this Sunday, May 4th. Its a great ride, tons of good food and some challenging hills. E and I will be there and love company!

Wnat to Buy Around Washington ticket

Okay, this year I was a bit slow getting to the computer (I was in Seattle watching my son's first baseball game of the year).. I was going to do the Tour de Wyoming but registration filled *in 15 minutes* and I didn't get in! Now I'm hoping to buy a Ride Around Washington ticket (a transfer ticket). RAW also is filled but I'm still hoping to get just one ticket.

I've put up a message on the appropriate forum for the Cascade Bicycling Club but if anyone out there knows of someone signed up for RAW who won't be able to make the ride, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

Anyone going to the Seattle Bike Expo?

Is anyone planning on going to the Seattle Bike Expo on Saturday, March 8th (it's also held on the 9th). If so, is anyone interested in car-pooling, either in my car, or in yours?

I plan on leaving early (around 6:00 a.m.) on Saturday and returning fairly late. There are several presentations I want to attend, which run throughout the day. See here for details:

May 18^th Crime Stoppers Canyon for a Day Bike Tour

September 27-28, 2008 Group Health Wine Country Trek

Apple Valley Kiwanis hosts the Group Health Yakima Ridges Century (with 25, 50, 70 and 100 mile loops) on May 17, 2008 and the Yakima Crime Stoppers hosts Canyon for a Day on Sunday May 18th, 2008. Register for each of these events separately in advance or on the days of the events. All proceeds from the 2008 Group Health Yakima Ridges Century benefit the CMH Foundation's Strong Families Program. Proceeds from the Canyon for a Day ride benefit the Yakima County Crime Stoppers.

Group Health Wine Country Trek will be September 27 28^th, 2008. They have expanded the rider limit to 250 riders, so in order to improve the registration processing and correspondence efficiency, they have now moved exclusively to online registration. There is also a no refund policy.

so i need a build kit for a frame and with my first child coming, well, you get the picture... i hope... if not, well, lets just say i erased my sardonic comment. not that my 11 year old torelli is bad, but at 26lbs., its a tad heavy.

contact schliesmanstudio@yahoo.com, i will consider a lot of different ideas except any which cost over $1200 (or weigh over 26lbs). heck, i need to get an ibike, pedals, and cages too. oh, i have an argon18 krypton frame and a Look fork.

my other option is big time internet retailers or a LBS.

If you are looking for a ride this Saturday I know of two. Bob Alliston and gang will be heading upto Gold Creek for Fish and Chips starting at 9:00 at Fred Meyers. Denise and the gang amd me are heading to Ellensburg starting at Sundowner at 8:30 and stopping for pasties in E-Burg. A great day to be out.

USADA took the only tactic they could, that is, that LNDD is certified by WADA, and that accordingly the work of its technicians is unassailable.

Cyclists are the biggest sandbaggers and secret trainers around. They'll say anything to soften you up for the kill. Don't let this happen to you. Study this handy rider's phrasebook to find out what they really mean when they say:

"I'm out of shape"
Translation: I ride 400 miles a week and haven't missed a day since the Ford administration. I replace my 11-tooth cog more often than
you wash your shorts. My body fat percentage is lower than your mortgage rate.

"I'm not into competition. I'm just riding to stay in shape" ---
Translation: I will attack until you collapse in the gutter, babbling and whimpering. I will win the line sprint if I have to force you into oncoming traffic. I will crest this hill first if I have to grab your seat post, and spray energy drink in your eyes.

"I'm on my beater bike"
Translation: I had this baby custom-made in Tuscany using titanium blessed by the Pope. I took it to a wind tunnel and it disappeared.
It weighs less than a fart and costs more than divorce.

"It's not that hilly"
Translation: This climb lasts longer than a presidential campaign. Be careful on the steep sections or you'll fall over -- backward.
You have a 39x23 low gear? Here's the name of my knee surgeon.

"You're doing great, honey"
Translation: Yo, lard ass, I'd like to get home before midnight. This is what you get for spending the winter decorating and eating
chocolate. I shoulda married that cute Cat 1 racer when I had the chance.

Translation: I'll need an article of your clothing for the search-and-rescue dogs.

RIDE IN SEATTLE THIS WEEKEND!!!!

Mt. Adams Cycling will host a ride in Seattle at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 5. Previously billed as the South Lake Washington Loop ride, the route has been changed due to SeaFair and frequent closures to bike traffic of the I-90 bridge bike lane.

Instead, we'll meet at Myrtle Edwards Park, near Pier 72, just west of the Seattle Art Museum Sculpture Park. The plan is to ride approximately 25-30 miles. We'll leave at 10:00 a.m. and do the Magnolia Circle, a spectacularly scenic ride to and through Magnolia. From there, we'll ride back to downtown and out to Alki, along the waterfront and maybe sample some killer fish and chips. This is going to be a great ride. Elaine Jones is the host, so the weather will be perfect. It is timed to allow you to return to Yakima before dinner. BEWARE: the I-90 bridge will close for several hours periodically on Saturday and Sunday, due to some stupid SeaFair air show. The P-I says the first closure on Sunday will be at 12:15 p.m. See you there!

Directions to Myrtle Edwards Park:

From westbound I-90 into Seattle, take the Vancouver, B.C. exit, northbound onto I-5. Take the Madison St. exit into downtown. Proceed to the stoplight and turn left onto Madison. Drive west on Madison toward Elliott Bay, the only visible body of water. Continue west through downtown to 1^st Ave. Turn right on 1^st Ave. and drive north (toward the Space Needle) approximately 15 blocks to Broad St. Turn left on Broad Street, past the Spaghetti Factory Restaurant, to the bottom of the hill and Pier 72. At the entrance to Pier 72, turn right into the parking lot of Myrtle Edwards Park.
