Hi! Glad to hear from you. You can call Stoney Creek and tell them you need a room for Aug. 1st & 2nd. Tell them you don't have a credit or debit, and they should let you pay with cash or check at check-in.

We can't make it for the pull, but we wish you lots of luck. Kick Butt, Girl!!! Have a Great Time. See you on the 31st.

Reserve Rooms Now!

A block of rooms is now open for us at Stoney Creek Inn-Columbia. The cost will be $80.00 plus tax. Call now to reserve your room(s) for the convention Aug. 1st, 2nd, & 3rd. The number is: 573 442-6400. These rooms will only be held for us until July 18th. Then they return to general circulation, if not spoken for. Classic Seminars

Thank you to James Graham, John McGee, and Rick and Drake Morris for taking the time to give seminars at the Deer Classic. I thought attendance was good at all three seminars and I think everyone came away from them having learned something. I know I did. Thanks again guys, I appreciate what you did.

Kinda concerned about future of my membership in the Missouri Taxidermy Association due to proposed amendment changes. As the proposed changes read, to be a member I must be a licensed taxidermist or work in a related field. I've done taxidermy strictly as a hobbyist of and on for the past 30 years and I'm an engineer. Isn't there room for hobbyist anymore? Thanks!

Crappie seminar at Deer Classic

As most of you have heard, I will be doing a crappie mounting seminar at the Deer Classic. I will be showing how we mount crappie without any scale loss, we will not be painting a crappie, though we will have a finished crappie to view, and I will be providing a paint schedule to those who want one. Feel free to bring your video cameras if you wish. I will have the order number for the white lightning caulk I use, as well as the fin treatment we use. If you have any questions before the seminar call me at 660-332-4948.

Proposed Deer Season Changes

As most of you are probably already aware. The Missouri Department of Conservation is proposing changes for the 2009 firearms deer season. Their proposals are:

Move the antlerless season to October so anterless deer could be taken before firearms season.

Set the opening of firearms back one week. This would open the weekend before Thanksgiving and run through the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Move the Muzzleloader portion to late December.

Keep or expand the four point restriction to more counties.

The MDC is holding meetings around the state to get input form interested hunters. For the schedule of the meetings you can check the MDC websight.

Some feel that these new changes may impact the deer kill in Missouri. There is a feeling that moving the season to later in the year will miss the primary rut and decrease the number of larger bucks taken.

There is petition for an alternate proposal being currently circulated. This proposal will be presented to the conservation commission with the support of Representative Wayne Cooper.

It proposes that the firearms season be left when it currently is. Opening the second week of November.

Antlerless season be left when it currently is opening after the closing of firearms season.

Instead of the anterless portion being moved to before season. The youth season be expanded to two weekends (4 days) instead of its current one weekend (2 days). This would give the kids more time to hunt.

This proposal also supports keeping the 4 point restriction.

I don't have any strong feelings concerning the the 4 point restriction but I whole heartedly support the expansion of the youth season and leaving the dates for firearms and anterless seasons alone.

New Economy Fish Eyes by Rinehart

I got my first economy eyes from dan today, considering they are about 1/2 the price of any other eyes, they look pretty good, and are a tremendous savings--check them out, and you can save even more if you only use one eye, JIM!!!

Reinhart deer forms

I will get stuff started,
I ordered some of Dan Reinhart's new 100 series deer forms.
They look great, customer loved them also, I will use more of them.
Cant wait to try the 200 series when they come out.
Anyone else try them?
