There will be a Truck tug of war Saturday May the 31st at the Owen Co. Fairgrounds it will start at 7:00 pm. Admission will 7.00 for adults, 6 years and younger are free. Dear Magistrates and People of Owen County,

I am a wife of a firefighter in this county. Nobody has looked at this situation from a wife's position. My husband is the one who supports our family while i stay home with our children. He is very loyal to his department, he will drop everything to respond to a call. Most of the time he doesn't know the person or the predicament he will be put in. I don't know if this time he will return home safe. I always fear I will have to tell our children their dad is not coming home and now I have to work and they have to stay with someone besides me all day.
Right now most of our departments have the safety equipment they need.But they always need new things and that costs money. How can anyone say that paying $50 is to much money to pay so that these men and women who have families of their own to provide for can save your life,or a friends life and we don't even know you. Maybe then you can be the one who has that dreaded talk with our children.
Most people go out and buy their kids designer jeans that are usually over $50 but you think my husbands safety is worth nothing. It is only worth the rest of mine and my children's lives but apparently we are the only ones who care about that.
we would have to pay $100 for our deeds one of them is just bare land we do nothing with, but we would gladly pay triple that if it would help these wonderful men and women return home to their families safely. How can you or anyone for that matter say a person who volunteers his/her time,money,and most importantly life for anyone in need is not worth a pair of jeans.
I hope hearing this from a wife's point of view will help everyone understand what they are getting for free,and what it could cost me and my children.
