MSFC Report - Financial Benefit of Sports Facilities

In November, the MRCC Public Policy Committee heard a presentation by the Minnesota Vikings on their stadium development proposal. A question rose from one of the committee members as to the benefits of professional sports facilities in Minnesota. Interestingly, the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission recently report answering this very question. Conducted by RSM McGladrey, the report provides "an analysis of the estimated historical tax revenue benefit to the state, county and local government agencies from activities associated with major professional sports facilities in Minnesota." Attached to this post is that report. In addition, the MSFC engaged in a statewide speaking tour to discuss the next steps for the metrodome. The tour will be in Minneapolis on January 16th.

Draft Policy Positions - 2008

The Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce has been hard at work drafting their policy positions for the 2008 Legislative Session. Attached is a document that outlines the draft proposal for all 9 policy subject areas: affordable housing, energy, environment, health care, public safety, taxation, transportation, stadium and workforce development.
