October Full Moon Celebration & Lakshmi Festival of Lights at Felicita Growth Center in Escondido with Sharon, Taab Wuti, Sun Woman

With the Full Moon landing during the traditional Lakshmi Puja of India, this celebration will focus on manifesting and experiencing more abundance in our lives. We will honor Lakshmi, the Hindu Goddess of Abundance and one aspect of the Great Mother Goddess, in the traditional Festival of Lights ritual of chanting and placing prayer candles into the "Ganjes River" (We will be putting our floating candles in the crystal bowls and sending our prayers out with sound and light!).

As with all of Sharon's Full Moon Celebrations, she will bring her singing crystal bowls for a sound meditation and Earth Healing ritual.

Full Moon Celebrations are for both men and women. Each gathering is a celebration of light and love and life. Depending on the energy of the moon and other planetary vibrations, we work within a theme for each full moon - sometimes abundance, sometimes healing, sometimes love - whatever Spirit calls us to do. At each celebration there's a community potluck, a fun and powerful ritual that goes with the theme, a sound activation with singing crystal bowls, and an Earth Healing Ceremony. Full Moon Celebrations give us the opportunity to honor the Divine Feminine within each of us in some way music, creativity, or an intuitive activity.

Bhakti Kriya class offered in Encinitas, August 29, 30, 31

Bhakti Kriya is a technique received by Sri Swami Vishwananda from Mahavatar Babaji. A simple technique which enables us to come in contact with the true Self, it is one of the most powerful ways to transform limited human consciousness to cosmic God consciousness. Regular practice illuminates the mind, opens the heart, helps us to recognise our inner potential and replenishes physical and mental energies.

Bhakti means devotion and Kriya means action and awareness. By practicing Bhakti Kriya we learn to perform our actions with devotion. We learn to be in complete connection with the Divine at all times, realizing that the whole world is a manifestation of Divine will, thereby becoming able to joyfully surrender.

No particular religious background is required, as devotion is the same in every religion. One does not need to be a disciple of Sri Swami Vishwananda in order to be initiated into Bhakti Kriay. The technique given by Mahavatar Kriya Babaji is open to all who are sincerely interested in practicing regularly. Anyone 18 years of age and older, except those with severe heart problems, may take the course.

The course will cover the nine forms of Bhakti which lead to Self-realization: Shravana Bhakti, Kirtan Bhakti, Smaran Bhakti, Padaseva Bhakti, Archana Bhakti, Vandana Bhakti, Dasya Bhakti, Saki Bhakti and Atmanivedan Bhakti. Bhakti Kriya consists of various spiritual practices such as breathing techniques, mudras, physical postures, and meditation.
At the end of the course Sri Swami Vishwakaunteyananda will give Shaktipat. Shaktipat is an energy-transference, an initiation, which will insure the success of the practice.

The fee for the course is $108. For the initiation, participants are asked to give a donation (dakshina). Dakshina is the traditional gift in exchange for initiation.

The frame drum is the worlds oldest drum and was played mainly by women for thousands of years as the primary trance-inducing technology for religious and ecstatic rituals. In ancient myth and legend, the frame drum is associated with the Bee Goddess, who is said to awaken a buzz of ascending consciousness and descending spiritual grace in those who practice these drumming rituals. During this powerful weekend, we will use all the tools of the ancient priestesses as we will learn a synthesis of frame-drumming techniques from India, the Middle East, and North Africa. We will invoke the elemental energies of earth, water, fire, and air, creating sacred space through ritual, and focusing on the heart chakra to help bring balance to ourselves and the world. We will also practice bhramari pranayama (bee breath), and the traditional mantra and mudra of the Hindu Bee Goddess. FRIDAY Night will be a Slide Presentation on When the Drummers Were Women plus an experiential demonstration/concertthis night is open to the public (men & young adults welcome!) plus the retreat registrants. SAT & SUN retreat workshop (open to women & men) will additionally offer hands-on training on the frame drum, interactive chanting, meditation, movement and sacred ceremony. No prior musical experience necessary!

Layne Redmond has followed an extremely unusual path specializing in the small hand-held frame drum played primarily by women in the ancient Mediterranean world. From 1981 through 1990 she performed and recorded the first contemporary frame drum compositions with percussionist, Glen Velez for European and American labels. During this period she intensively researched the playing styles and history of the frame drum in religious and cultural rituals culminating in her book, When The Drummers Were Women. About the Artists:

Miranda Rondeau is a singer, song writer and frame drummer whose music is inspired by the inward journey. Her chanting transcends language, bypasses the intellect, is devotional and shamanic in nature. She has performed throughout southern California since 1994, at colleges, universities, drum festivals, women's conferences, consciousness raising events, and many different community rituals . She has studied and performed with Master frame drummer/author Layne Redmond and she has performed with Italian virtuoso frame drummer Alessandra Belloni. The frame drum, is one of the oldest sacred instruments in the world. It is a powerful archetype and tool of remembrance. Cliff Oliver RN, DC is an international explorer and teacher of Holistic Lifestyle Coaching and incorporates sound and rhythm as an integral part of that processes. He helps individuals and groups create wellness in a stressed out world by helping them accessing their creative side. The sounds of the Native American flute, didgeridoo, frame drum and overtone vocalization are some of his tools for opening that door. He has been in private practice in San Diego since 1981 providing powerful natural health care solutions.

Charlene Penners life has been an exploration of the body, to know its bones, blood, and guts, to refine its subtle energies, to allow its emotional reflections, to sense the whisper of its spirit. While Charlene received her MD degree in 1976, her current Art and Practice of Medicine is Butoh Ritual Dance, performing and teaching since 1999. She also practices Tai Chi and Yoga, and a variety of hands-on therapies including the development of a stimulating modality called Active Stimulus Rebound Therapy. She earns her bread and butter teaching college level anatomy, physiology, & pathology. "My body is my instrument and voice. My body is awakened and carried by the cry of the broken wing, the silence of the lonely heart, the chuckle in the old woman's eyes, the rage of the mob, the quiver of the first smile crossing the newborn's face.
