New Grasstowne Project

We'll be done by sometime in Jan with the new band project. This time we had the opportunity to take our time selecting the tunes and we're excited about it. It's turned out to be a more traditional record than our last. Looking forward to having this one released by next June but will have it for sale on the road by the end of March '09!

Bibey & Benson project

We're in the process of putting together a double mandolin project. It'll be out for sure in '09 on Pinecastle Records. Wayne & I are having a great time working on the material. It's really a blast and as much fun as we have in our respective bands it's fun to do something totally different musically. I'll keep the progress updated!

Hey Alan,

Re-visiting this gem - Putting Down New Roots - and was wondering what mandolin you are playing on it? It sounds good and strong, and some of your breaks are just out of this world.

Did you see that Psycho T is injured? Oh man, oh man, oh man....

Hi Alan:

It's been a long time since I've seen you. I believe the last time may have been in Conway. Those nights on the pier at Garden City, when you were playing with Kevin Mercer, and I'm sorry, I can't remember anyone other the Jeff Sanson, bring back great memories.

You look well. Continue with the success. You ARE one of the best musicians I've had the opportunity to play with and know.

Fiddlefest , MACC Festival and Greene County Fair

We had an awesome time this past weekend at three great events!
Fiddlefest 2008 was the biggest crowd I'd ever seen there. The workshops with my friend Herschel Sizemore and all our other friends such as Paul Williams , all of the Dailey-Vincent Band and the Bluegrass Brothers was really a blast!
On Saturday we were in Columbus, Ohio at the Musician's Against Childhood Cancer Festival. I got to see my old friends Ronnie Bowman and Harley Allen as well as alot of others. We also did the Opry set there that night with Carl Jackson and Jimmy Van Cleve among others. It was great to see so many folks at this incredible event in memory of Darrell and Phyliss' daughter Mandy that we were friends with for many years.
On Sunday we got to go be with our good buddy Joe Mullins and also got to see and hear Aubrey Holt again. I got to play alot of fairs with Aubrey in the mid-eighties when I was with the New Quicksilver and he of course was with the Boys From Indiana.

Hey Alan.. I emailed you a while back but never got a response.. Was doing a Bibey family tree and yer name popped up.. I know there's not many of Bibeys' on the planet, and really not many in the entertainment business (I'm a FOH freelancer) and thought it was kinda wild.. If you ever read this, post back or something! Gotta love the net!
Robert :D
Just a thought for your next solo recording

I got it, man!

Bibey Plays Standards.

Kind of like Gershwin Plays Standards, or Parker Plays Standards, but mandolin-oriented. You could get the primo pickers, make the arrangements pro-mandolin and go to town. Not the overplayed warhorses, mind you, but standards from off the beaten track - like Forked Deer, Panhandle Country, Monroe's Blues, Frost On The Pumpkin, redo of Flyin' High (hint, hint), stuff like that. I'd buy it! ha ha.
