About 6-8 weeks ago we put Lee's car in the garage for some stuff...the stuff cost over $650. Then it was my turn.. mine only came to $450 with the knowledge that as soon as we got the new tires on it (another $500) that I would need my my wheel bearings done. Well we got all that taken care of and about 2 weeks later, Lee's air conditioning stopped. So we figure it is just a leak & take it back...no it was the compressor..another $650. That was last week. This week we take my car in to have the bearings done...all these things needed to be done before the hunt so as not to have any vehicle problems while done there....went to pick it up tonight and what I thought would be about $250 turned out to be over $450. Dave, our mechanical came hollered out from the house & asked if we were going to leave the truck????/ HUH??why would we do that????? Dave saw us coming down the road ...draging one of the shocks. The bolts that hold the one end in place had broken. Dave doesn't think the shock was damaged & he will reattach it tomorrow.

Lee comes over to my car and I am nearly ready to cry...our savings has been wiped out AND Dave had best not put my check in the bank before Friday ....and we will be eating nothing but beans and weinies for the rest of the year......
and Lee looks be straight in the eye and says... "It's October, what else should we expect"

How true that is..... you would think we would have learned this lesson by now. Granted some years are worse then others (this is definitely the worse) but it happens, all the same. The evil one does not want us on task for Tar Hollow and any thing he can do to keep us focused on ourselves, our problems, any thing but preparing our hearts and minds for what lies ahead at the hunt. Our focus needs to be on spiritually preparing ourselves to meet the needs of those God is bringing to the hunt.

Let's be in prayer for each other as well as those coming.

Should have a new total in a couple days. Looks like it is going to be a good year.

note to self...make sure there is plenty of $$ in the savings account EVERY October.

Tar Hollow Diet Question

This is for Joy. I will be at the Tar Hollow hunt again this year and have a question regarding my dietary requirements. I have diabetes (no medication or shots yet) and have to avoid a lot of carbohydrates. Any assistance you can give me would be appreciated. dan

Tar Hollow Mountain Heritage Days

We are beginning to hear of more & more who are not going to be able to help with the archery range this year. As it stands right now the only people we are sure are going to be there are Lee & I. We can't do it alone and quite frankly need at the very least 8 people on the archery range at all times. That would mean no one gets a break. That isn't even talking about the flint knapping / frontier village we are also supposed to run.

I need to hear from people today a definite commitment. I already know who isn't coming, I need to know who is. Please do not respond here, send me an email.

I feel it is only fair to Amy to let her know as soon as possible if we are not going to be able to do it this year, so please let me hear from you by tomorrow night. I will let Amy know one way or another on Tuesday.

I want to thank everyone who gave me a hand at the Millersburg shoot. WE didn't know if we should come or not it was kind of to soon after surgery but we didn't know if my son in law would go or not if we didn't go and we wanted to make sure he would go to church on Sunday at the shoot. For those of you who didn't know he gave his life to Christ at the CBA shoot in Ripley WV. It was a answer to our prayers. He is still going to be a hard sell to bring him fully in to God's embrace so please pray for him and for us that we can be a true example and lead him and his family into to the true embrace of God's love.

Almost heaven cba shoot last weekend

Just droppin a line on the cba shoot in WV last weekend. Neil and Jess put us up in fine style at their home-the only flat place is the front porch and what a view! THANKS FOR YOUR HOSPITALITY! Red Jerry Ruth and myself shot with all of the Nichols kids and had a great time til Neil got kicked out of Shoneys for doing grunt calls without any help. IF you ever get a chance to hear Dave Blanton DO IT! he was AWESOME! What a testimony! He alone was worth the drive! Great weekend, Great Friends and Gods GREAT!

just wanted to say thanks to every one who camped and shot at blackhoof this weekend at our 2nd annual shoot. the weather was great and the course was really done well. the fribee competetion thing has my back tighter than jerry's wallet but somebody had to get harry out. and to my buddy keith I owe you one Swiggy!
