Scout needed Republican National Convention

Do you have a really sharp scout that might be interested in taking part
in the opening ceremony of the Republican National Convention? We are
trying to bring together a diverse group and would be particularly
interested in having an African-American scout. Preferably this scout
should be mature and very capable of interacting with adults as there
will be over 1600 media and many politicians that might be interested in
interacting with the scout.

I don't know alot of details about the event yet except that it will
probably be on Sept. 1. We will also most likely be providing new
uniforms to the participants which they can then buy after the event at
a "used" price. I'm trying to lock down all the participants by the end
of next week (August 22nd, 2008) so let me know ASAP.

Civic Fest 2008

Hey history buffs and all those interested in learning more about the election of a United States President. Here is an event designed to promote civic pride and to educate the public about the process and history of electing the most powerful person in the world, or presumably so. Regardless of your political affiliation, this will be a fun and learning filled opportunity.

Scouts working on American Heritage and Citizenship in the Nation merit badges, this is a great opportunity to do some research. Girl Scouts and other youth groups have similar requirements and activities that may apply.

Friends and families of Lake Minnetonka District. This is a great opportunity to learn more about what is involved in the making of a President. Check out the website www.civicfest.org for more information, location, hours of operation and ticket pricing.

Crossover Bridge Available

Our pack has a beautiful hardwood crossover bridge available to any unit that can use (and store) it. The bridge is solid hardwood, comes in three sections that bolt together and has a rope railing. Assembled it is about 14'L x 3'W x 6"H at the top of the rope railing. It was custom-built by a former Cub parent, but due to fire codes our chartered organization wants the space back. We've got it, you haul it -- a giveaway.

Also have an extra pinewood derby track that used to be our practice track until we built an aluminum one. We have no use for three, and it takes up even more space the church wants back. Another we've got it, you can have it for the asking item.

Contact list educational water control

Greetings I am putting together a contact list for educational purposes. I would like to get a list of organizations in the metro area that would be interested in doing educational volunteer work relating to water quality, natural resources, and other environmental concerns. The purpose of this list is so when I have an agency call me asking if there would be an organization willing to help with a project (tree planting, river restoration, water quality testing, etc) I would have a list of contacts that would be interested and easily accessible. Soccer Jamboree Troop Volunteers needed

My name is Camille Wickstrom and I am the Recreational Program Facilitator for the CC United Soccer Club. I oversee the rec soccer program for over 1100 kids in the Chaska/Chanhassen area. I am planning for our end of season Jamboree Saturday, June 28th. This day all players come to the Chaska Middle Schools campus to play two or three games all on Saturday June 28th. Our club is a volunteer program, but we always have trouble getting enough parents to help. In an effort to entice parents to volunteer their time during the jamboree, I was going to offer to provide reserved parking for the volunteers. As you can imagine, with over 2400 people participating in this event during the day, the parking can be a problem. I was wondering if you had a troop that would help manage the volunteer parking area. Left unattended, the marked off parking areas would be a free for all.

I do not need the troop to park cars, only direct appropriate people with a parking pass to park in the designated areas. So old enough to not be run over by cars and old enough to turn people away that want to park in the open spots.

Scout Philmont Opportunity

I just received confirmation that our troop has secured trek # 27 for
our summer Philmont trip.

This trek is a popular one as it includes Baldy mountain and the Tooth
of Time.

Here is the itinerary:

80 Mi. - Strenuous
Sioux - Ponil Campfire and Root Beer
Flume Canyon - Burros
Head of Dean - COPE style course
Ute Meadows - Miranda campfire and Black powder Rifles Ute Meadows -
Baldy Side Hike Upper Dean Cow Upper Bench Cimarroncito - Rock Climbing
Cimarroncito - Conservation - Hunting Lodge Ponderosa Park - Clarks Fork
Chuckwagon then Over Tooth of Time to Base camp

We have 6 - 7 possible openings. We would need at least 1 additional
adult from a participating troop. Best for all parties involved.

Estimated cost with transportation is around 1000.00

Philmont transfer travel

Our troop is taking a crew to Philmont July 30th to August 12, 2008. We are trying to fly out July 29th to Albuquerque or Colorado Springs and then get a bus or van transfer to Cimmarron. Looking to see if any other crews are going from the Council the same time and would want to share a large charter. Please contact me if interested.

I was looking at the link to the Northern Star Council website with information on the Fort Snelling Historic Trail, Trail of the North Star, and Lark of the Monarch. http://www.northernstarbsa.org/AdvancementAwards/CubScout/OtherAwards.aspx

Has anyone done these trails? I was wondering if I could just plan a day and do a trail or if there is something I should go and check out prior to bringing the boys along?
