Temporary Koi pond while doing Koi Pond Expansion

I am going to be doing some pond expansion, and for a several week period I was thinking of keeping my koi in a temporary show tank.

I have a 6-foot show tank, and I have 6 koi about 20 inches long, 1 koi and 10 inches long, and a 10-inch goldfish. If I bought a proper filtration system, could I keep this many fish in there?

Alternatively, I could borrow, rent, or buy a 2nd show tank and put half the fish in each one?

Any thoughts?

I relocated to the Ellensburg area almost 2 years ago, from the Boise area, where I was an active member of the Idaho Watergarden & Koi Society, and affectionately known as its "Shubunkie Junkie!"

I'm still getting my pond plans firmed up here, and am now housing my fish and plants in huge rubbermaid-type stock tanks -- not very esthetically pleasing, but it works!

I would like to find several large, pond-raised Shubunkins (8" min.) to "jump-start" my fish population. I don't mind paying a reasonable price for them or driving over to the west side for nice fish (and I know what a nice one looks like). So, if you will be thinning out your pond population this spring, please keep me in mind. Thank you!

I am not a member but I would love some input from the experts. I need to change my pond liner this winter. What can I do to keep my 15 medium size koi alive and return them to my pond after replacing the liner. I would appreciate any tips or suggestions for my project. Thanks.

3 free koi to a good home

Hello everyone,

I'm not a member of the society, but I have 3 koi that I need to give to a good home before I move to my new house. They are in outstanding health and are primarily orange and white, but one has some black. They have been raised on the highest quality food I can find as well as the occasional "treat" of an organic orange slice or green leaf lettuce. I really, really, really wanted to make sure they go to a good home with someone who is experienced with koi and won't let them get eaten by a raccoon or freeze to death or something.

Free pond goldfish to good homes. I can't keep up with their reproduction schedule! I moved to this home in Edmonds with a pond almost 2 years ago and have come to the conclusion that I should give away all the goldfish and just keep koi. Any help/tips appreciated. Thank you, Lori

Need Fish

If anyone has any spare fish or any koi you would like to see have a new home my pond is ready to accept new fish. My herd was wiped out 5 weeks ago by a family of otters and now the pond is 3/4 cycled and ready for new fish. I have 2 daughters going to college so I have limited funds for purchasing new fish.

New Koi at Volunteer Park Pond...are they okay?

I notice that there are 13 new huge koi in the round Volunteer Park pond by the water tower. There is no waterfall in that pond and they only feed them 3 times per week. Is that okay?

Koi for sale or boarding

Hi,
I am moving to Canada and have 9 mature healthy koi.
They are all about 10 years old except one which is 6.
They are large, maybe 15+ inches.

I once met someone through this message board who offered to board them for me until I could get moved and make a new pond (2+ years, a long time I know!)

Otherwise, I would like to sell them so I'd have a fund to buy new koi in the future.
Several of them are gorgeous long fins.

Spray on liner

New Set-up

Hi I'm new to the hobby and club, and am planning to install a filter system on my existing pond (5,000-6,000gal). All I have in place now is a 1/4 horse pump that runs the waterfall. I am planning to construct the system myself. It will be pump fed and above ground with a gravity return to the pond. It will consist of 4 fiberglass vortex chambers 40" in diameter, #1=settleing chamber,#2=brushes,#3&4=blue Japanese Matt. I am interested in any used equipment anyone would like to get rid of. In particular handling equipment for my 24'' magoi ("Phantom") and his little brother 12" goshiki? (Incediboy). I plan on draining the pond and cleaning it. (good idea?) I also am looking for an air pump, skimmer, and any other odds and ends that could be used. Also any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks-Jessica
