wow its been a very exciting few weeks,what a fantastic race.....I know I speak for all who watched on line that we all felt like we were apart of the race.Thanks Tim for talking my dad in to doing the race, I think I enjoyed it as much as he did.(I really enjoyed having his pillows for 2 weeks).Thanks Dan you did a great job keeping us all informed, the pictures were beautiful,I think they should keep you!!!!Now that the race is over I have to find something else to keep me busy. Maybe I'll start writing tips down for next year, or maybe I'll try to bake some pilot bread,or maybe I'll just have me a beer! I have one last story to tell and then I'll be on my way.................. A young athlete went to his mom and told her how things were so hard for him, he did'nt know how he was going to make it and wanted to give up.His mom took him into the kitchen, she filled 3 pots with water and brought each pot to a boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the 2nd she placed eggs and in the 3rd she placed a tea bag. After 20 minutes mom said what do you see. He said carrots eggs and tea! His mother said each of these objects had faced the same adversity each reacted differently.The carrots went in strong hard and unrelenting,after being in hot water it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile, but became hardened. The tea was unique after being in water it changed the color and taste.So Which are you a carrot that seems strong but with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength,am I egg that starts out fragile and then becomes hardened,or am I tea ...the tea actually changes the hot water.When things get tuff do you elevate yourself to another level.....THE END. Congratulations to all the athletes .....we all enjoyed following your dream with you...See you next year....

Thanks to Dan for keeping us all up to date for the past month on this race as well as RD responsibilities. The commentary added a little background for those of us that haven't embarked on such an adventure. And getting the pics up was great.

Thanks to Kathi and Bill for organizing and RDing the race (no easy task for such a long race AND race it) and providing the web site for us to follow along and virtually attempt to grasp some of the experiences.

Thanks and Congratulations to all the racers that had the courage to toe the line and make it however far you did. You were truly inspirational to us following at home. Relax, recover, and continue on your next adventures where ever and when ever they may be - including back here next year. Jose was especially inspirational for covering all that distance alone.

Made it to Nome!

We made it to Nome!!
I am happy to have reached my goal.
After another incredible experience in the "blowhole" just after Topkok, our last hurdle, we made it into Nome last night.
The ground blizzard was a pretty surreal experience with the full moon above and the wind blowing like hell on the ground.
Bill told me if the wind took my little fatbike out to sea and I lost my bike I would not be the first woman biker finishing to Nome.
I had a tight grip on it in some of those 60 mph gusts.
We could see the lights of Nome for a long time before we got there and they seemed to move further down the trail away from us.
The last few miles are always the toughest.
The full moon was above as and reflecting in the ocean as we came around the corner at Cape Nome.
When we arrived at 3:00 AM in the morning there was a woman out on the streets and welcomed us to Nome.
Then after knowing I was finally here was the first time I felt cold.
We got a room at the Nome Nugget where I had a long hot shower.
Thanks to everyone following us on this epic trip across remote Alaska and sending all the good wishes.

mit meinem Jugendfreund "Clusig" aus Coburg gebe ich gerade mchtig an, da ich Euch persnlich kenne. Er war noch nie bei Minusgraden mit einem Fahrrad unterwegs, hchstens zu Studentenzeiten in Mnchen. Ich habe heute, nach 6 Wochen, mein Fastengelbde gebrochen, und auf Euch ein Bamberger Starkbier gertrunken. Wenn Ihr demnchst ins Ziel kommt, kann Bill hoffentlich auch sein geliebtes Erdinger trinken. Ihr seid die Allerbesten und die ganze Welt ist stolz auf Euch. 2009 bin ich mit Kilian bei Euch in Alaska!

While the sun went down behind the orange trees YOU BOTH must be doing your last few miles. WHAT an entry into Nome!
Potent EQUINOX - Full Moon and perhaps also a Possession on this Good Friday. I hope it is not too noisy on Main Street as I wish you to get back to civilization in a gentle manor otherwise Bill might have a tendency to return towards White Mountain again.....or....not this time?
Fantastic Journey you both have accomplished. Kathi, the moment I met you I knew that you would be a magic enhancement to Bill and visa versa. What a team!!!! With unconditional Love I give you a warm embrace.
