SINCE SOME HERE THINK I AVOID BASEBALL AND TALKING ABOUT IT SO I MADE IT A POINT TO ATTEND TODAYS OLD RIVALRY BETWEEN THE GREEN ROCKETS AND RED DEVILS. THE ROCKEST JUMPED OUT TO A 4-1 LEAD BEHIND A HOMERUN BY BILLY WHITMARSH AND A DOUBLE FROM MARSHALL BROWN. WILL GRIFFITH AFTER JUST AND I STRESS JUST 2 DAYS REST AFTER A 7 INNING GAME TWO DAYS AGO STARTED AND WENT 3 INNINGS PITCHING WITH A TIRED ARM. HE GAVE UP 6 OR 8 RUNS AND WAS RELIEVED BY FRESHMAN JEFF KING WHO THREW HARD BUT COULDNT HOLD BACK THE RED DEVILS GIVING UP A FEW HITS. AS THE RED DEVILS TOOK A 10-9 LEAD. CODY VANSCHOIK(SP) AND JOSH BROWN FINISHED UP AND THE ROCKETS COULDN'T PRODUCE ENOUGH RUNS TO COMEBACK WHICH LEFT THEEM AT 0-2 HEADING TO HERMON DEKALB ON MONDAY.

Boosters Golf Tournament

The 5th annual MCS Sports Boosters Tournament is scheduled for Saturday May 31st at 10am. It's a Captain & Crew 4 person Tourney, $60/person which includes greens fees, cart, contests, buffet dinner at the end of the day. We also have a Hole In One contest with 1st prize being $10,000.
The tournament is at Langbrook Meadows in Brier Hill. Any interested teams may contact Langbrook at 375-6367 or Mitch at 375-8556 or 276-5792 to register.
We are also accepting hole sponsor donations ($50 or $100) as well as any donations for prizes.
Rustle up a team and come join us for a fun day for a great cause. All of the proceeds directly benefit the athletic programs at MCS.

THIS PAST SUNDAY(MARCH 30th) THE MORRISTOWN BOYS PLAYED 2 GAMES IN THE CLARKSON SPRING PROGRAM. THE TEAM WITHOUT ANY PREPARATION FACED OFF VS LISBON IN THE FIRST GAME AND PLAYED WELL ALTHOUGH EXPERIENCING SOME CONDITIONING PROBLEMS TOWARDS THE END. THE LEAGUE GIVES THE BOYS SOME EXTRA TIME ON THE COURT AND THEY GET TO PLAY 6 GAMES THROUGHOUT THE SHORTER SPRING CAMP. THE TEAM CONSISTS OF:

Potsdam vs. OFA Championship Game

Scott, in response to your lengthy description of what occurred in the last five minutes of the Potsdam v. OFA Championship game in which you gave a play by play account of what occurred. It is my understanding however, you were in fact away on vacation and never witnessed or were present when this game occurred. You blindly supported Matt Caufield. Yet, I am further told, you spend more time at your good friends apartment than you do at your own home.

I was in attendance at this game and did witness first hand what occurred. There were many calls, or no-calls that were simply and absolutely wrong. Your good friend Mr. Caufield made several calls in that time frame that left most in attendance questioning his motives and the validity of his actions.

Your so called description of the younger Coleman taking four steps and walking, was in fact a retrieve of a loose ball and a pass on one knee to his older brother who had a teammate on the other end of the floor for a lay-up had not Mr. Caufield mad the phantom walk call.

Im sure you simply miss-analyzed this from the sandy beach of your vacation hide-away.

Forget about the phantom box-out foul called on Potsdams #23 (a textbook box-out that was executed meticulously), or the phantom foul called on Potsdams Zach Adams in favor of Bill Mernas son, that left everyone in the stands questioning the intent of Matt Caufield and his whistle that dominated those last five minutes.

With 2 minutes and 36 seconds to go, Potsdam was still ahead by 10 points Potsdam executed a flawless backdoor play to Jerry Coleman. Mike Luckie proceded to grab Coleman by both shoulders and pull him down in the act of shooting to prevent an uncontested lay-up. Coleman still powered the ball up and in. To the amazement of all Mr. Caufield, your good friend, nullified the basket and had no intentional foul call. This took at least two possibly three points away from Potsdam. You probably just missed this one in your eye-witnessed accountoh, I forgot you were on vacation.

Lets go to your descriptive analysis of the final play of the game.

a) Gene Bouyer was toeing the line.

b) He jumped up breaking the plane while deflecting the inbounds pass. Which should have resulted in the ball returned to Potsdam.

c) He then landed out of bounds with both feet and reentered the court grabbing the loose ball. Also an infraction that would leave Potsdam with the ball; this was a violation of Rule 9, Section 4 concerning a player going out of bounds on his own volition.

d) Gene Bouyer then preceded to lay the ball up as Jerry Coleman took a step back with two hands straight in the air. NO CONTACT OCCURRED. Matt Caufield immediately whistled the basket good and 1. Gene Bouyer himself, told many people there was no foul, but was happy to accept the whistle. Again, you make everyone believe in your descriptive account of what happened, that you were an eyewitness to these events that transpired. We all know now that to be untrue.

It was amusing in the last minute of the game to watch Coach Merna leave the coaching box and go to the baseline underneath his own basket directing traffic while standing next to his ex-player and good friend, Matt Caufield. Earlier in the contest, Caufield stopped the game and ordered Kmack back to his designated area as he ventured, but a few feet out of the coaching box. I sincerely believe, if Kmack did what Merna did in that last minute, Caufield would have nailed him with a T, yet nothing was said to Merna.

As to the defensive responses from you and your brother concerning Mike leaving the coaches box before the game was over and taunting Kmack, Ive not read or heard Kmack respond in any negative way to the actions of Mike. Rather, this indicates to me that he is a guy that says if you dish it out, you have to be able to take it.

Im disappointed in Scott Sargent. You ramble on and dominate the chat room. It is evident from your comments that you neither want to seek and/or blind to the truth. Many have told me that you have great respect and admiration for Steve Kmack the coach, and the person. Instead you deceive those who read these accounts and of the game into believing you watched and made mental and accurate notes of what transpired.

Let me pose this question to you:

Have you ever contacted Mr. Kmack? Sat down, and discussed the game with him? Viewed those last five minutes, which you seem to have witnessed first hand, together? I would think that this is the least you would do for somebody you claim to respect so much.

Your good friend Matt Caufield should be ashamed for the travesty that occurred that championship night. Coach Kmacks preparation and his teams flawless play is something that all who attended will remember for many years to come. Coach Mernas OFA Blue Devils talent wise were 30 points superior to the Potsdam squad. Bill Merna himself has said in the Section X Sports newsletter, Kmacks Team was better prepared and deserved to win that game. The 13 points that Potsdam held OFA to in the 1^st half is a credit to his defensive genius.

Scott, you choose to degrade those who dont attach names to messages, you should be more concerned about the lack of honesty and accuracy in the messages that you have chosen to hound this chat room with.

I choose to look upon this as a victory for the Potsdam Sandstoners as most in attendance believe to be the case. I also believe that this game will go down in the history of Section X basketball as a black mark, which was decided by the seemingly biased officiating of the Ogdensburg official Matt Caufield.

I think I will contact Coach Kmack, and refer him to your statements posted on this site,on second thought, I dont think I will; it wouldnt be in his best interests to read such negativity from a coach that professes to be his friend.

CONGRATS TO THE SECTION 10 TEAMS WHO ENJOYED ALL THE SUCCESS THIS YEAR. ESPECIALLY TO THE STATE CHAMPION CHATEGUAY BULLDOGS AND BACK TO BACK STATE CHAMPION HAMMOND RED DEVIL GIRLS. HIRING OF COACHES

I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR THE PUBLICS OPINION ON THIS SUBJECT.
WHEN A PERSON WHO HAS NO CONNECTION OR POSITION WITH THE SCHOOL HOLDS A COACHING POSITION SHOULD THAT JOB BE ADVERTISED EVERY YEAR TO THE PUBLIC? THESE POSITIONS ARE OFFERED TO THE INSTRUCTIONAL STAFF AND THEN THE NON-INSTRUCTIONAL STAFF FIRST IN THE BEGINNING OF SUMMER. IF THE JOB IS STILL OPEN AFTER SHOULD THE JOB THAT HAD A COACH THE SEASON BEFORE THAT WAS NEITHER OF THE AFOREMENTIONED BE ADVERTISED OR SHOULD IT JUST BE HANDED BACK TO THAT PAST COACH IF THERE IS A MORE QUALIFIED APPLICANT NOW? OR IF THAT COACH HAS PROVEN TO BE LESS THAN ADEQUATE? ALSO DO YOU THINK THE SCHOOL SHOULD GET TO PICK AND CHOOSE IN THIS SITUATION OR SHOULD THE METHOD BE A WRITTEN POLICY?
