Music Builds Tour Rant! (BY JANT!)

So I was reading in an article

The bands on the tour will collectively donate one dollar from every ticket sold during the trek.
That from this article.

My question/concern is that I'm seeing the price of the tickets that go on sale tomorrow listed on Ticketmaster as $125.

So if only $1 is going to "The Cause" ....

I know how the break down usually goes- the promoter- the venue- then the bands... I knew that this would be a little bit more expensive than a "regular" show, but dear God $125!!

Seriously??

I'll see you guys over the summer at Cypress gardens. I got to see the kick off of this tour. And I will be at the Gomer Gathering (Either Dallas or Houston) but I'm going to have to sit out the rest of the tour.

Dan's vocals

One of things that first drew me to Jars was Dan's unique vocals. Very soulful and heartfelt delivery. With that said, does anyone feel like he's been pushing a little too hard since Good Monsters, especially during live shows? Don't get me wrong, I love the his energy and the sense of urgency, and I know Good Monsters is a "rock" album, but I dunno... just seems like he pushes his voice too far at times with awkward results.

Anyone else's thoughts?

Question...Waiting for the World to Fall

Someone in the know, please tell me if there's a chance of seeing Waiting for the World to Fall on a Jars CD. I know it was recorded for Narnia and is on the CD of music inspired by Narnia, but does that mean it can't be released on one of their CDs? I LOVE that song!

Why we love JOC

I think the thing I love most about this band is that the contents of there music is more real to me than any other Christian band I've ever heard and much of their music just captures me on a very personal level. They sing about the love of God but they also sing about real human emotion and the struggles and victorys we face throughout or lives in our relationship with God and man. JOC is really unlike any Christian band I've ever heard because they are so real and genuine with songs like Oh my God, Worlds apart, Jealous kind, Art in me and so many others.
I also like that each album kind of has it's own new style of music but it's still very much Jars of Clay.

Dan,

Just a few questions that happened to come to mind because I was curious:

1) What are the songs that you are most proud to have written and/or recorded and why?

2) Imagine yourself when you were a freshman in college. If, at that time, you heard JOC's music and didn't know it was you in the band, do you think you would have liked it?

3) Knowing what you know now, if you could have given yourself advice at the time right before you began writing music for Much Afraid--advice about things like your musical instincts, how to handle the spotlight, where to take JOC musically (e.g. taking on a producer instead of self-production), expectations for following up the debut, how to handle pride, the tensions between vocation and ministry, how to balance industry success with creative integrity and not selling out for the money--what general advice would you have given?

4) Is it difficult now not having riding the wave of success that you had at the time around your debut album? Being in the spotlight, hearing your songs on the radio, getting huge royalty checks, that sort of thing. Do you think you would have had even more success had you gone with your own creative instincts and not taken on a producer for your second and third albums?

Frog On The Blog

I just checked out the new blog on jarsofclay.com. They showed this picture of Gabe:

And it had the caption, "This is Gabe bringing rock to the frog clave thing."

I just bought one of these frogs the other day at a festival. They were selling them as decorations. I heard the sound and thought, "Hey, that would be great for recording with!" I didn't realize someone's already had the bright idea because it's an instrument! lol It's called a Giro.
