Ciao a tutti!!!

I am a translator, consultant and Italian teacher, living in Bari,Italy. I teach Italian online. This method gets good results for grammar (by Units with theory lessons and exercises I send my students and I review with them online) and conversations (by materials provided by me). Lessons and conversations are in accordance with students level. I work by an Internet-mic, in Skype MSN. My lessons may concern Italian civilization too (art, history, politics...), if you want. You can also have lessons on weekend.

Looking for a job

Hello,

I am new here and I want to know if anyone has any ideas for a job I could find in italia. Unfortunately dual citizenship is not going to happen for me or at least they told me this because my grandfather became a us citizen before my fathers birth. So I will have to just go and try to get a visa and a job. Does anyone have any job suggestions that would give me a visa? I know these are hard to come by

As I'm Italian living here, I can suggest you a few useful websites to look for a job in Italy.

People here use a lot the websites (in Italian) of Infojobs.it and Monster.it, but also other websites of free ads, such as Bakeca.it, Vivastreet.alice.it, Kijiji.it, Lavoro.tiscali.it and so on, you can simply make a research, sometimes also choosing the region and the area.

If I find nice job ads, I can surely let you know, do you allow me to post them here?

Home-Cooked Meals by the Best Cooks in Italy

A cugina of mine brought this to my attention. If you wish to enjoy home-cooked meals while you are in Italy or are a home cook yourself and enjoy cooking for others...this is worth checking into.

Italy is trying to revive interest of home cooking by creating a project called "Home Food." Aided by a University of Bologna professor, Egeria Di Nallo, the Home Food project allows guests to experience dinners in the homes of Italians who have been specially chosen to provide an authentic Italian experience. The traditional cooks are known as Cesarine, or "empress of the kitchen," and include both males and females.

Rental in Abruzzo

I have a small, newly constructed two bedroom house near Teramo in the Abruzzo Region. I visit twice/year for about three weeks each time. I would rather have someone in the house and like to cover some of the expenses so I rent it out from time to time when I am not there. The 2008 rent is only $500/week (I live in America and payment in dollars is fine for me). I have also rented it out by the month at about 75% of this price. When Life Gives You Lemons.....

..make limoncello!;) A summertime drink that comes to us from Southern Italy which seems to be gaining in popularity in the United States, limoncello is the ultimate in refreshment. This has got to be my all-time favorite cordial its like a lemon drop. The delicious, citrus-y aroma is reminiscent of sultry summer nights in Sorrento when, walking down the corso, all you can smell is the sweet perfume from the lemon trees.

LIMONCELLO

Zest of 15 (or so) lemons
2 750-ml bottles 100-proof vodka
4 c sugar
5 c water

Combine the zest (yellow part only) with one bottle of vodka in a large covered jar. Allow to rest for 2 5 weeks.

Following the resting period, combine sugar and water in a saucepan. Cook, stirring, over med-low heat until a thick syrup is formed and the sugar is completely dissolved (this takes about 6 - 8 minutes). Remove from heat and allow to cool. Combine syrup with the lemon mixture and the second bottle of vodka. Allow to rest 2 5 more weeks.

Following the second resting period, strain out and discard the solids, bottle up, and store in the freezer. You will love this!

(Notes: The longer it rests, the smoother the flavor. You may wish to hang onto the empty vodka bottles in which to store the finished limoncello later on. I understand that grappa may be used instead of vodka, although I have yet to try this. Also, learn from my mistake: I do not recommend trying this with vodka of less than 100 proof, because the finished limoncello may solidify in the freezer; if this happens, defrost it and perhaps make shooters by re-freezing in shot glasses.)

The Perfect Bellini

This is a perfect summer entertaining beverage, but just as good year round. A true Bellini is a refreshing drink made with sparkling wine and white peach puree, first invented in 1948 at Harry's Bar in Venice Italy. It is a simple combination of pureed white peaches and prosecco (Italian Sparkling Wine). While you can puree your own white peaches, they may be hard to come by in your area or not be fresh. I highly recommend The Perfect Puree Company of Napa Valley. They have a White Peach Puree that makes the perfect Bellini. Place 1-2 tablespoons white peach puree into the bottom of a Champagne flute. Fill the glass with Prosecco or Champagne.

While traditionally made with peaches, other fruits can also be used such as raspberry puree. Very tasty. No matter what fruit you use, still delicious, and perfect for summer entertaining.
