what happened to the un-implanted embryos

I was put in 4 day 3 embroys and it seems 2 implanted and survived. I am wondering what happened to the other 2. Did my body absorb them? Should I expect some bleeding sometime for my body to expell them out?

Tough Egg Shell

Dear Doctor,

At my previous IVF attempt, I have been told that the shell surrounding my eggs are tough hence the only way the sperm could get into it is through ICSI. Is there any way of softening the egg shell?

My husband was told that he either does not have a vas deferens or he has a blockage. He recently had a PESA done and viable sperm was found for our 1st IVF/ICSI cycle. The problem is that there wasn't enough to be frozen for future ivf cycles.
Is there any surgery available to correct a blockage or lack of vas deferens?

Is PESA something that could be done several times for future cycles?

Also, does HRC recommend any urologists in the Pasadena/Los Angeles area?

Will clomid help if my husband is nearly infertile?

We've done IUI with no success and 5 years of trying get pregnant. IVF is not in our future so is there anything that can be done if my husbands sperm count is in the 18 million area with low motility? If there is an increase in eggs does it increase my chances of getting pregnant? What are the chances the sperm is making it where it needs to be for me to get pregnant?

Desperate - MS/IUI

Dr,

We live in Hong Kong and have not registered for MS/IUI as we thought it would be difficult to get away to the US to do it. My husband has a trip to the US in late October and it coincides with the estimated time of my ovulation for my next cycle.

Is there anyway I can get onto the MS/IUI program for late October? Please please please??? It is difficult for us to get to the US thereafter.

Thrombophilia Panel

I am 33 and dh 35. We have been ttc for 3 years. I have had three failed injectable IUI's. I respond very well to meds and produce many eggs. 3 of the IUI's were after a laparoscopy which opened my blocked left tube and cleaned up 3 small spot of endo.
1. 2/08 -14 days after IUI beta- 2
2. 6/08- 14 days after IUI beta 3
3. 8/08- 14 days after IUI beta 2
After these beta's my RE said that the egg and sperm are meeting up but, not implanting.
My RE recommended that I have a Thrombophilia Panel done and my husband a SDI-SA. My husbands results came back great. These are my results from the panel:

*Factor V von Leiden-
G1691A Normal
H1299R (R2) Normal

*Hyperhomocysteinemia (MTHFR)-
C677T Heterozygous
A1298C Heterozygous

*Factor II (Prothrombin Mutation)-

My RE's recommendation is to do another IUI taking Folgard vitamin, Lovenox or Heparin, and Aspirin. I do not have the specifics yet of the exact amount and when in cycle I would be taking these. My RE's nurse said that the test results reveal that I am not getting enough blood flow to my uterus to support a pregnancy thus the low betas after IUI's. Can you please give me your feedback.

Endometrial biopsy - when do i get my period?

Hello Dr.Sarajari/Ladies

I had 3 IVF failures and my RE wanted to know why the embies are not implanting despite their good quality. He did a mock cycle on me this month, i did everything i would do in a frozen cycle, except that the embies werent transferred. Instead an endometrial biopsy was done and tghey sent the tissue to Yale university.

My biopsy was done on oct 1st wednesday and i have stopped all my meds (progesterone and estradiol) on that day as instructed. However i still didnt get my period,instead i have tiny brownish discharge when i wipe. Could you please let me know when will i get my period?

slow growing embryos

Has anyone had their doctor tell them their embryos were slow growing? I just had 2 failed FETs this year and I just had my final transfer yesterday, using the last of the embryos we had from a fresh IVF cycle in 2005.

I don't know anything about the embryos except for that one was a blastocyst and the others were 'compacted.' Doctor discarded 2 and transferred 3.

If anyone has had any successful pregnancies using slow embryos, please let me know! I have my preg test next friday, but I do like to torture myself with a thousand questions for the next week !!! =)

Freezing embryos

Hello Doctors,

I am interested in your opinion on freezing embryos. I would like to do PGD for a girl in 2-3 years, which would put me at the 35-36 year old mark. I am wondering if it is an advantage to cycle within the next year and freeze embryos for FET in a few years? Is there any advantage to doing this vs. using an older egg at 35 +? Thank you for your help.

Does Clomid change your LH surge/OPKs?

I'm on Clomid for the first time this cycle to improve/fix a luteal phase defect. Normally my ovulation predictor kits follow a pattern leading up to ovulation, but this month they're not following that pattern.

I'm unmonitored by my doctor and using frozen sperm, so timing is everything.

Does Clomid change my LH surge or how my body responds to OPKs? I'm getting several days of partial lines (about 25%) on CD 12-15 without seeing an increase or decrease in line intensity. I do NOT have PCOS, so I'm not testing partially positive every day because I have that.

I typically O around CD 18 (16-21 range), and my BBTs are down and cervix isn't SHOWing, so I haven't missed it yet. I thought if anything changed while on Clomid, it would make hormones stronger, not longer and weaker as it seems to be doing.

There are trials for women under 42 years of age...I know the reason is that they are probably good responders at that age. What about someone older with responses above their average age group?

surgery ?

good afternoon Dr S,

I have a question i was diagnosed with a polyp about 2 months ago. I recently had it removed from my uterus while it was removed
the Dr realized the i had septum uterus which i believe is a indentation
of the uterus. i have been trying for 14 years, i had a ectopic pregnancy in 2001. The dr says he can fix it with surgery is that true and can i get pregnant after my surgery. I am so confused and frustrated. I forgot to mention that i had IVF twice . What are my chances this time?

Question regarding IUI and IVF?

Anyone had IUI or IVF before? Can you walk through the general timeline of what has to be done on each cycle day so that I know what to expect? (I know it varies if you need meds or not) My husband travels for his job, so I need to know what days he needs to be around to make things happen. I would like to try IUI for a couple cycles before moving to IVF. Also, can his sperms be frozen so that he doesnt need to fly home every time I am ovulating? How much would freezing the sperms cost? Thank you so much!
