iPhone idea

Hi, I'm really interested in houdahgeo but I haven't got a GPS logger (is that what you call them?)

So what I'm thinking is, would it be possible for someone (maybe houdah) to create an tiny iPhone app, that when you run it logs the GPS coordinates.

So, when out in the field and you're going to take some photos, just run the app wait for it to log the coords and close it and put the iPhone away.

Then when you get back have some function in the app so you can run it and have the GPS file appear on the network for use in houdahgeo.

Seems plausible to me?

Forum: HoudahGeo Support

ACTPrinter won't print to iPhone

I bough this app because it looked extremely useful. Well, my luck has been less than perfect. I downloaded the Mac application and installed the printing service first, then lanched the ACTPrinter app from the iPhone. When I sat back in front of the Mac and tried to print to the iPhone, it never finds the iPhone to print to. All I get is a blank dropdown list. They are both on the same wifi network. Both can send/received email and surf the web just fine, so connectivity is not an issue.

I'm a bit bummed. I mean it only cost me a dollar, but still...

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Forum: ACT iPhone applications

Quickly renaming found files?

For me, any search process needs to enable me to rename the files I find. So, if I search by content, and come up with (among other things), various old downloaded PDF articles with nonsense numeric filenames, I use quicklook to glimpse each document, and immediately wish to give it an appropriately meaningful name. (Often, of course, I also want to copy or move it.)

Renaming a file is lightning-fast in Leap (which for some reason hasn't won my allegiance, despite being powerful), and in Spotlight results when they display in the Finder. In Houdah, I can use QuickLook to see what the identity of the document is, but then I find no quick way to do what I next want to d with that informatio.

Rename functionality seems not to be mentioned in Houdah documentation. Surely I'm not the only one who would benefit from it? While we're at it, I'd love to be able to move the selected item to one of my frequent destinations via keystrokes rather than drag-drop.

(I know I can open a *selected* document in Path Finder (etc) and proceed from there -- but if Houdah doesn't itself let me perform basic commands on my files, I'd want at least to be able to get my whole results list to show up in a file manager so that I can engage in systematic rename/move housecleaning without switching between apps...)

Any thoughts? Wouldn't at least the rename feature be easy to add?

Forum: HoudahSpot Support

HoudahSpot and Launchbar question

I just found out about this app and am demoing it. It has potential to help streamline my workflow.

Im a LaunchBar user, as well as a Pathfinder user. I see that with the Launchbar integration it does not allow the creation of different saved templates that can then be accessed via separate Launchbar searches. Thats a shame, that would be an extremely powerful feature.

So, given that this is not available and that the search engine appears to use the HoudahSpot preferred template, is there a way to modify the preferred template so Launch Bar would be running the search I most commonly use? The one it runs now is worthless to me.

Secondary question: I saw a prior post asking if it was possible to get the same button integration into Pathfinder that is available for Finder. Any new info on this? That would be powerful, as well. Thanks.
Forum: HoudahSpot Support
