HELP! How to start Green Cleaning Program

Ramsey County, Minnesota, is interested in starting a green cleaning program for many of our County Buildings. The programs is being called "Cleaning for Health". I will be meeting with a group of bu idling managers and stakeholders on Thursday, August 21 at a kickoff meeting to discuss how to get started.

Does anyone out there have suggestions, or a simple multi-step process for starting this campaign? Any feedback would be appreciated.

We are just beginning our own "Green" program and in my research I remember seeing statistics that claim for example;

"many experts agree that a 2% increase in employee productivity is about average when a building implements effective improvements to the indoor environment.

The cost of worker salary in a typical office building is about $130/sq.ft. Therefore, every 1% improvement in productivity yields a saving of $1.30 per square foot."

Green Carpet Cleaning Practices

Hello,

We just launched a brand new division to our cleaning and contracting company. We call our division Greenzilla Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning. Our company name is Groutzilla hence the evolution and origin of the name. We specialize in Natural Stone Restoration and for a while now have had our clients complain about their experiences with their carpet cleaners. They have always complained about residue, strong smelling cleaning agents, and the list goes on. In addition to our natural stone we have a dust free wood floor sanding division which really does go along with the green campaign. Any way we are looking for input in regards to green cleaning products, whether they are daily house hold cleaners ext... There are also divering opions on which group is the actual legislator of the green product certification process. Anyone with input is appreciated.

compostable bags

Good day, everyone.
I'd like to know if anyone has knowledge of a company that sells affordable compostable plastic bags. At the school where I am employed (dept. of environmental services supervisor) there are many sustainable practices, such as using green cleaners (introduced last November) CFL usage, low flush toilets, timers on classroom lights, and we are the biggest composting facility in Southern Vermont.
I'd love to be able to use compostable bags on campus, but my budget is very tight, and the bags I've found so far are enormously expensive, and some companies want a huge minimum order. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Looking for Australian Green Cleaning information

Hello, Members of the Green Cleaning Network!

I am Michael Dougherty CFO of The Perfect Green Solution ,Inc out of Roswell, Georgia. We are a thirteen year old carpet maintenance company who as of December 2007 have gone "green " along with our parent company
HOST out of Racine WS.
I am striving to be the "go to "company for commercial buildings which have attained LEED certification and want to maintain Green; along with those buildings in the process of becoming Green, who need the 10-12 credits that HOST dry extraction can provide towards the 36 credits needed for Silver certification.
Along with that we love the fact that maintaining your 50,000square foot building with HOST saves 205,716 gallons of clean water every year over any other "wet" cleaning system ( extraction ).
My background is 20 years of hospital facility management then began The Perfect Solution,Inc. in !995. WE have offices in Birmingham,AL, Charlotte,NC and are looking hard in Savannah,Ga, as well as Chattanooga,TN. So if you know anyone send them my way. We clean carpet ,Upholstery, grouted tile, leather, and do wood floor restorations.

Norwex Microfiber Cloths

Has anyone heard of Norwex? They are a green cleaning and home care company based out of Norway. Currently, the are very popular in Canada, and entering the market in the US.

Their microfiber cloths are a bit expensive - about $15/cloth, but they are impregnated with silver, which kills bacteria, virus, etc. on contact. They also have 100 times the thread count of normal microfiber cloths. No cleaning solution is needed to sanitize, just water. Here's their web address: www.norwex.ca

I'm thinking of encouraging a school that I'm helping to green to use them. Any thoughts/experience/ etc. is greatly appreciated.

I'm looking for some feedback regarding hand dryers. In an effort to cut my paper towel use and cost, I'd like to present the idea of switching to dryers to my supervisors. Do any of you use them at your facility, and if so, how do you like them?
I'm particularly interested in the ones that claim to dry hands in as little as 10 seconds. Any comments would be helpful. Thanks. Sharon
