According to an article in a Birmingham newspaper yesterday: -

A STAGGERING 40 per cent of primary schoolchildren in Birmingham do not speak English as their first language..

Shock new Government figures have revealed that 31,869 of the citys pupils have a foreign language as their main tongue.

But teachers have warned that the rising numbers of pupils without a decent grasp of English is undermining educational standards - and costing schools more money.

The new 2008 figures were published by the Department for Children, Families and Schools (DCFS) following a school census.

Sandwell is the next West Midlands authority with the highest proportion of pupils without English as their first language - with a quarter of primary and a fifth of secondary students

When, we wonder, are newspapers going to report on the underlying story that of our kids education suffering directly due to immigration? Our educational system has finite resources and it is well documented that additional resources have to be allocated to non-English speaking students. But there are no additional resources as such these are merely existing resources being taken away from English speaking students to their educational detriment to meet the needs of the offspring of newcomers or of people who are culturally adverse to learning English.

And, as an aside, when were the corrupt Lib-Lab-Con parties ever given a mandate from parents to inflict this problem on our children and fellow taxpayers?
