Boat launch

I noticed on an old fishing map that there is a boat launch at the 219 bridge. Is that true and is it any good? We have always used the state park ramps, however we are staying on the north end of the lake (close to the dam) this year. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

DEEP CREEK LAKE STATE PARK BOAT RAMP

SUNDAY, SEPT. 21st FROM 7 AM TO 10:30 AM

The Deep Creek Lake State Park boat ramp will be closed to use by the public from 7:00 am until 11:00 am on Sunday, September 21, 2008. The SavageMan Triathlon will begin and end at the Deep Creek State Park boat ramp area resulting in delays and congestion from 5 am until at least 5 pm on Sunday. The event is part of a fund-raiser and awareness campaign of the non-profit Joanna M. Nicolay Melanoma Foundation. The swim event begins and ends on the ramp itself, so the boat ramp will be closed to ALL traffic during this portion of the race. Visitors who anticipate using the park boat ramp that weekend are encouraged to avoid any use of the ramp on Sunday to help minimize congestion and to avoid long delays. Parking spaces for boaters with handicaps will not be available at the ramp on Sunday but arrangements for transportation from parking spaces within the park to the ramp can be made prior to the event by contacting the park at 301-387-5563.

I am headed down to the lake this weekend does any one have a good report on pike and walleye? Bait, location, time? Are the trout still at the dam? how deep and what kind of bait/ lure? Thanks for the help.

I've never been on the lake. The end of the month I'm headed up for some fishing so does anybody have info on the lake for bass? All I heard was it's steep and deep along the banks. Smallmouth or Largemouth, how and what to throw this time of year? Thanks for any info.

I will be staying on deep creek lake in mid october. My neighbor was telling me that he has had great success trolling the holy cross area which is right across from where i will be staying. Anyone have any info on what to use, what depths, etc.?

I have never really fished a crankbait, but I would like to try it. Any advice on where to start throwing it. I guess maybe points or deeper weed beds. Just looking to start a friendly discussing and get some view points...

Hi Everyone!

We are planning a short family vacation over the extended Halloween break. I usually fish the summer pattern. Is there any fishing going on out there then? I know the lake gets pulled in the fall, but I'm not exactly sure when they do it and how it effects the bite.

Hello everyone! Haven't posted on this site for a very looong time but I do read it several times a week. My wife and I are coming out the week of Sept. 2. We love Deep Creek, Western Md. and the very friendly people.
We are fairly familiar with most of the lake but for some reason we have never explored the southern end around Hazelhurst/Green Glade or the other side around Pergin Farms. Is there good fishing structure in these areas?

Weed Bed Bait

I heard that there are tons of weeds in Deep Creek Lake. I am going fishing there this Sunday and have fished in heavy cover before. I usually use senkos texas riged with no weight but they don't get down deep in the weeds. I was wondering what the best bait or lure would be to use to target bass in heavy cover.

I've recently have had trouble catching fish at Broadford. I see people catching fish there all the time but I haven't caught a thing the whole year! I have tried in the morning and evening but only from the shoreline. I Was wondering if anyone knew any good places to try or any tips that might help me catch bass.

DCL Report for 9/9 through 9/16

Hey everyone, I went down to DCL for a week with the family and did ALOT of fishing for seven days. On DCL a few days can make a huge difference. The first days we fished we crushed the smallmouth but most were in th 10-13 range. Most fish were caught between 16-22 fow. Only picked up one walleye at 14 1/2 in. but it was a fun battle. Also we landed a 26 inch northern pike. After hearing that no largemouths had been caught this came as a surprise... my dad caught largemouths 15, 16, and 19 inches in length. After the first two days though.... the next two we got skunked!!!! NO fish, and cold temperatures really brought the bite down. Towards the end of the week we attempted trolling for awhile and picked up a few bass flat lining frenzy crankbaits... A few chunky perch were also caught on a last gasp attempt Friday night by the 219 bridge. Alot of bass fisherman have been on the move at night as i noticed.... Overall a decent week at DCL but a little disapointing compared to the usual at the lake. I will try to post pics of the big largemouth soon!!!

Blue Ridge Bassers Open fall tx limit changed to 5 fish

Hello, This is a reminder about our oct 5th open tx. We changed the limit to 5 fish. You can fish with a partner or alone. Registration will begin early at 5am. We will be set up down at the ramp by the soda machines. Come early to get a good boat position. Boat position is based on order registrations are received
registration $80 with 80% payback
lunker (optional)$10 100% payback
tx hours 7am until 3:30pm
5 fish limit
payout spots will be based on number of entries. For example, our night tx had 20 boats we paid down 4 places. We will add 1 place for every 5 boats.
up to 20 boats will pay 4 places
21-25 5 places
26-30 6 places
and so on like that.

Power Bait for trout at the damn

Just wondering if anyone has ever tried powerbait for trout in the dam area. I will be up for a week starting tomorrow and will give it a shot but was curious if anyone else has tried it.

im here at deep creek lake on vacation and my family has two boats and have been goin fishing at the normal times(morning and evening) and fish the banks grass around docks and so forth and have had little luck in catching fish just wondering what we can do to catch fish.
