2009 Handbook

Read the new members magazine with interest. It says 3 times - on pages 7,11 &12 - that the 2009 yearbook will be out in April. Wouldn't bet much on it judging by the tardiness of it in previous years - like August this year. Or do we mean April 2010?

i notice that the local council has given provisional approval to the new stand/ground redevelopment. nice to have asked the members weather we agree or not. with a credit crunch and property prices falling is there going to be the financial "black hole" in where the money comes from

By cancelling the England ODI series putting the test series on hold, postponing the Champions Leage and canceling the ICL World Series?

What sort of message is that giving out? Are we "The World" at the mercy of a small group of fanatical individuals who can control our free world?

To me this seems like a nee jerk reaction....discuss

Collingwood can hardly hit the double centurian's very docile spinners off the square and yet Sewag, just launches himself into Swan, our 'best' spinner.

Also Harminson, after a couple of tight overs, naturally goes offline and at his pace they knock him over. Bring on Masters, no! don't throw in the looney bin, in this form of the game, i'd rather have in the side than Harmy.

Central Contracts V I.P.L.

Listening to all the talk in last few days about England players being keen on having a chance to play I.P.L. cricket. It is unfortunate that the I.P.L. is played in the English season, therefore not giving our players a chance to prove themselves in 20/20 format.

My suggestion would be for the players who wish to be considered for I.P.L.cricket. To back themselves in being picked for England by not signing a central contract ?

By not signing a contract they should be free to play I.P.L. cricket. After the tournament is over the players concerned should be available for England selection on a match fee basis.

However if the players sign a central contract ? They should except it and get on with playing for England fully focused.

Results Reporting Service

So it appears that from next season the SNEL are favouring the use of the playcricket site for all result reporting.

Do people forsee any problems with this method or believe it to be exactly what we are looking for to erradicate any future discrepencies in the system?

New Playcricket Results System

Just looking at the 'proposed' new system for results next year......

From my knowledge of the site, not every club even puts their results up there. Clubs like Shenfield, Chingford, Upminster and Westcliff already use it to great effect.

I can see some clubs seriously struggling to put their results up, looks abit of a nightmare for the captains! I can just see this having as many problems as there paper-based formats. Will take alot of effort from clubs, appointing someone who will over see the results and getting all the captains to put them on, which I cant see being easy!

What does everyone else think of it?
