Things to Keep Quiet About

Hi all!

This may sound a little extreme to some of you but I've talked with a Red Cross worker after Katrina who saw people at their worst. I've also talked to military family members who said exactly the same things about civilians in recent wartime situations. This changed drastically how our family prepares our disaster essentials and who we tell what to. Yes, people are mostly good and decent but after a disaster, desperation alone can make people do really, really bad things, especially to each other. They'll do whatever it takes to get what they think they need. And that's not counting the number of people who are on drugs or meds - and even those who have run out of their meds. Any way you look at it, the more people who know what you have worked so hard to stock up, the more you risk losing it and possibly getting harmed in the process.

So here are a few things we do differently now:

Our beautiful red backpack with "First Aid" written on it was traded in for an older plain blah backpack that serves the function (maybe even better) and doesn't advertise to anyone within view what I've got. Got it at a surplus store for under $10. Bought 3 more for storing stuff and also getting mobile if/when we have to.

Our small bills are actually divided into 3 different stashes (in heavy ziplock bags) so if we had to give up one stash, we've still got backup cash - plus nobody sees how much we've got. Just like at a swap meet, never show how much you've got to anyone selling you anything! Breaking up your supply stash into several areas at home isn't a bad idea either. Make anyone else think it's all you've got.

I'm in SoCal and I know most people aren't prepared for the next week, let alone a disaster! Prices are sky high now and make preparation more difficult but after a disaster, whatever is in demand becomes more precious than gold. A gallon of water will cost a LOT more than what grocery stores charge now. So whatever cash you've got stashed won't stretch as far as you think it will.

Depending on your level of expertise and comfort, keep SOME means of a weapon in your kit and know how to use it. A gun and ammo, pepper spray, a knife, etc. Whatever makes you comfortable. Just the threat of a weapon can save lives and property but not having one means you're much more vulnerable to anyone bigger, smarter or faster than you who simply wants what you've got. Remember you may also need to control freaked out desperate animals as well.

And don't tell anybody about your stash!!! Depending on the level of disaster and how long it takes to get supplied again, this can mean the difference between life and death for you and who you choose to share it with. Having every friend and neighbor showing up demanding to be included won't be pretty. Heck, our neighborhood took on a neighbor for having a bad lawn. I'd hate to see what a war over food and water would turn into.

I really don't want to sound like a fear monger but I've listened to experts who have been on scene and it's a scary scenario. We need to be fully prepared and not sitting ducks. Just please think about how vulnerable you are and protect yourself as best you can no matter what comes your way.

Welcome your comments and thoughts-

CCinSoCal

Forum: Are U Ready?

"TURN TURN TURN!"

We were on a Southwest airline plane speeding down the runway..when all of a sudden the takeoff was aborted and the captain shouted: "TURN TURN TURN!" It was evident the pilot was desperate to avoid the barriers just up ahead. I then found myself on a plane that was taxiing down the middle of a busy freeway.

Forum: Dreams & Visions

A few forecasts I noted:

8.9 SF in Feb. 2009

...2012 - the beginning of human extinction

2026, July 17, 10.8 SAF

On the upside, June predictions didn't come true. Close with hurricane but I don't think it came to fruition as the visionary noted. Downside, he got the Japan quake on the 13th, but it wasn't a 6.3 it was a 6.9. Check out his amazing forecasts.

Forum: Wide World Events

Thank you.

Take care,
Kim

EARLY WARNING EARTHQUAKE DETECTION NETWORK

QUAKE WATCH 2008

Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

8:25 PM PDT, July 04, 2008

TRAVEL WARNING FOR THE FAR EAST

Using The Coles Method of Earthquake Detection and Forecasting there have been multitude sets of main signals, (low frequency radio spikes caused crushing rock; quartz), which took place between July 02-04, 2008. The multitude signals received were one half to eight second spikes. Main signals are usually one half to three seconds long. Main radio signals occur between 1, 4,9,16 and 25 days before the seismic event takes place. The window remains the same with a reminder that larger quakes take a lot longer to happen. If we see more main
signals we will expand the forecast from 16 days to 25 days- (5X5.)

Designated regions are CHINA, JAPAN and the EASTERN COAST of the ASIAN continent. This forecast is in effect immediately extending through July 18, 2008. This means that any one traveling to or from these areas should BE PREPARED for a DISASTER of MAJOR PORPORTIONS.

Special Note from Jack Coles: Yesterday at about 1:50 PM PDT there was a large magnetic shift from magnetic North to nearly due West. This magnetic pull out of the West was the same exact direction that we have been receiving these signals across Hawaii, to Japan / China. My magnetic indicator moved nearly 100 degrees from magnetic North to the West and then back. We want to make sure everyone is ready for this because there MAY BE a TSUNAMI on the WEST COAST of NORTH AMERICA please everybody be ready be safe. A more specific epicenter may be determined upon further data received from additional main signals. If we receive such data then at that time the location and percentage of certainty will be adjusted accordingly.

Currently the percentage of probability is 72% that an earthquake will occur in a location specified with a magnitude measuring *7.0 - 7.9+. The most likely dates are July 2nd, 6th, 11th, 18th with July 19th, 2008 being the last day of this forecast; plus or minus 9 to 15 hours towards sunrise/sunset. Additional main signals could result in the release of seismic activity before these most probable dates noted above.

Coles of the Early Warning Earthquake Detection Network will continue to monitor the situation and provide any further news and updates as they may develop http://www.syzygyjob.net/jackcoles/ or www.earthquakeepi-center.com Jack Coles, The Quake Whisper forum board.

We want to URGE people living in this region to stay alert for early warnings signs of an earthquake. There are numerous warning signals which we call anomalies. Anomalies consist of: sudden increase or decrease in water levels i.e. creeks, springs, wells, lakes, rivers, etc.; power outages either black outs or brown outs, power surges, transformer explosions, unusual electrical disturbances via cell phones, landline phones, TV and/or radio reception; excessively high or low tidal forces; strange animal behavior domesticated or wild; rotten egg or sulfur odors near/from water sources, a sudden increase in water temperatures in home water systems and/or in bodies of waters such as wells, springs, lakes; unexplained landslides or fissures; sudden weather changes not typical; sudden increase or decrease of geyser activity including volcanic unrest. If you notice any of these signs PLEASE contact me immediately! These events do give further indication of an area experiencing a higher probability for increased seismic activity.

Please send your activity reports to: kimbarrow@earthquakeepicenter.com

Thank you for your assistance. Jack will continue monitoring the situation and bring us further updates as they develop.

Please stay prepared... All we want to do is save lives Jack Coles

** NOTE: Signals can become distorted underwater. Magnitude may be greater if earthquake occurs offshore in the water.

For References See: AP Wire Service January 17-19th, 1994, Hard Copy, American Journal (Inside Edition) January 19, 1994 and the L.A. MAIN SIGNALS
since my last post. Each set contained
9 to 10 main signals in a 5 second period
of time. If you add this to yesterdays
magnetic pull of the same direction ,
across, Hawaii, Japan, and China, this
quake is pushing an M 8 PLUS .

The window remains the same with a
reminder that larger quakes take a lot
longer to happen. If we see more main
main signals we will expand it from
  16 days to 25 days , 5 x 5 .

We are posting a TRAVEL WARNING for the
FAR EAST : CHINA, JAPAN : the EASTERN
COAST of the ASIAN continent. This
means that any one traveling to or from
these areas should BE PREPARED for a
  DISASTER of MAJOR PORPORTIONS.

Yesterday at about 1:50 PM PDT there
was a large magnetic shift from
magnetic North to nearly due West.
This magnetic pull out of the West
was the same exact direction that
we have been receiving these signals
across Hawaii, to Japan / China.
  My magnetic indicator moved nearly
  100 degrees from magnetic North
to the West and then back.

We want to make sure everyone is
ready for this because there MAY BE
a TSUNAMI on the WEST COAST of
  NORTH AMERICA please everybody
  be ready be safe .

  Sincerely,

  Jack Coles

<A href="http://www.syzygyjob.com//index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=35&topic=251129.0"
