What radio station was that interview on?

The interview with DL was on BBC WM (West Midlands).
We had asked to be notified when it was to be broadcast but they let us know at the very last minute.
Sorry.
Not sure if there is a 'listen again' feature.

Catherine has asked me to post this message to let everyone know that her wonderful, brave husband, Fred, passed away peacefully yesterday evening.

She also wants to thank everyone for their caring and supportive emails and cards during this past, very difficult, few weeks while he was so ill.

We will miss Fred so much. He was one of DL's biggest fans and such a good friend to the GB-ers who saw him regularly after DL's shows.

Our thoughts are with you, Cathie

DL- Just read the post about how you apparently agonized about whether to tour with others or alone.
I'll take a show with you and your guitar, OR you can bring Roland the Roadie, Gertrude the Groupie, Marie Laveaux, Cooky, Lila, Mrs. Avery, Fried Chicken Face, or anybody else.
Just puleeeeze come back sometime! I grew up with the old Hook stuff and love it BUT have renewed appreciation for your vocals due to your latest cds: Sing whateverthehellyouwant...just show up!

I've been back and forth to the UK quite a bit over the last 30+ years.
For personal and professional reasons.
Always felt like I belonged here.
I recorded Out Of The Dark and One Of The Lucky Ones in the US.
A UK label was interested when the US ones were not.
The 'live' album and DVDs were done here.
You (and I) can thank my manager, John Taylor, for much of my forward motion in the past few years.
And, as a great deal of my UK acceptance has come from relentless touring, I can also thank my tour manager, Adrian.

My time in Hook, while hard work, was not a chore.
I was young, energetic and enjoying being out there, having some success with guys I considered my friends.
It wasn't til after the band split that things got to be a drag.
The lawyers, camps and revisionist historians have made it all a bit of a bore to me these days.
There are still a great many wonderful songs to sing from that period.
Fortunately, a song is forever.
Unfortunately, the personal memories are not all that fond to me anymore.
Maybe in time...

Fall Tour

Dennis- Thanks for letting us know the format of the Fall Tour. Although I have seen your 'Only Child' tours and also your tours with bands and enjoyed both, I am glad this is going to be just you. The best of sounds a good idea and I am sure you will end up with a never ending list of favorites from everyone on the GB forum.

I've solicited public opinion before.
But, you see...that was my point.
This time I'm talking about a setlist of songs that I think are 'favorites'.
Taken from my perspective. From my experience.
So, while everyone is welcomed to post their choices, it's probably not gonna affect my final setlist.
Well...maybe a little.
Anyway, by all means, post away. ~

'(F)ALL THINGS CONSIDERED'...

Well, after weeks of deliberation and several long conversations with John Taylor, I have decided to do the Fall tour...alone.
Just me and my guitar(s).
A boy and his dog(s) - tho I'm not sure they actually employ 'spare' dogs in a canine act in case one should break a...ummm...string.
Do they?

I knew I was leaning this way all the while.
I'm keen to get back to the solitary man.
The only child.

I'll be candid and say that economics enter into the equation/decision, as well as aesthetics, but, if I really wanted to do it with a band, we could make it happen.
The truth of the matter is that I'm just as happy, if not happier, doing it solo.

I thought I'd bring this up sooner than later.
I appreciated folks saying they didn't mind which way I went - it's nice to have that trust - but I'm sure you'd rather know before plunking down your hard-won dosh.

So, it will be like before.
No support act.
Me...'ice cream break'...and, then, more of me.

I'm thinking I might do a show that consists of what I would consider people's 'favorites', whether it be Hook or solo.
The songs I feel have gotten the best response and have been the most enduring over the years.
Like a 'best of' show that doesn't stop in 1980-something.
I know I haven't had any solo 'hits' as far as radio etc, but, after years of solo touring there are popular songs from my albums that folks always seem to want to hear in concert.
Still thinking, but I like that idea.

We're gonna play cool venues.
Of course it's always down to a few things, availability being one of the key factors, but so far, so good.
As always, when we know where and when, so will you.

In the meantime, the summer gigs should be fun - that's all of 'em, by the way. No more til Fall.
Those shows will be me, finding my way back to being the whole band.
Like falling off a log.
Come watch me try to climb back on.

I keep checking The Brook Southampton , but they still havn't posted DL's
summer tour yet.
It makes me think of Eliza's horse Dover in My Fair Lady - " Come on THE BROOK , move your blooming arse" !!!
