Problems with Character encoding (German Umlaute)

Hi,
I got always result pages from copyscape with wrong characters for the german Umlaute (, ,,,,,). Instead of "fr" copy scape shows always "fr".

Maybe a problem with utf-8 / iso-8859-x? So these words are not identified correctly.

Do you work on this?

plagiarism yes/no

We want to use the Copyscape API to check articles for plagiarism. The problem is that the API returns a number which indicates how many words matched in the result.

I'm not sure if this is the total words or if this number represents the longest continuous string of matching words.

I just want to know if the text I'm checking has been plagiarized. Any suggestions on what "number of words" would indicate plagiarism?

Can this be done with CopyScape?

Hi all!

My first visit here, and I am just wondering whether I have found the right place. All I am looking for is a site which lets me search HTML source code of pages, in particular for a 'tag=blahblah' URL-part. So basically I hope to find all pages that have http://some.domain.com/whatever/tag=blahblah. Could CopyScape be the answer for my problem?

Event Calendars .. How do I??

Hi! I'm very new and am just beginning my website. My concept is to provide a calendar of events regarding Fairs and Festivals. It is easy to see that there are many sites with posted Fair locations with dates, times ticket information, etc.

How do I obtain such content legally and efficiently? Do I need to contact each organization and get their permission to advertise for them? Or, can I arrange and type the same information in an original format?

If anyone can point me in the right direction of answers or information that will help me do the right thing ... please let me know!! Maria

Hi, somebody know how use the copyscape premium service for automatic detection in a wordpress blog? Is a lot of work revise all the bloggers posts one to one for avoid they publish content from other sites. I have try the api but dont know how apply to this, and the copysentry is much expensive for me.

Just a question

I had sent an article talking about generation differences and age gaps to a South African magazine. They replied, saying they want to publish it. I was so excited!

It was published. It just wasn't my story! My ideals and thoughts were put in a different light. It seems someone at their office had read my story, stole my idea, and wrote an entire difference story, under her name! No credit whatsoever was given to me, who did all the research and hard work.

Is it considered plagiarism? What are the rules? Can I take any action against them?

It seems that this system counts users per IP address. I tried five lookups today and then was told the limit of 10 had been reached. When using a shared ADSL IP, it is possible that I picked up one used by another CopyScape user.

Making copyscapeskip work

I'm trying to sign up for CopySentry, and several of my pages are a few words over the 2000 word limit (67 and 76 words). I added copyscapeskip comments to remove several paragraphs on each page, to take them under the 2000 word limit... but I can't convince CopySentry to recalculate the number of words before paying for their service.

Ideas how to force CopySentry to recalculate page size *with* the copyscapeskip commands in place?

easyasabc-hosting.com Plagiarism

I have received this email from easyasabc-hosting.com:

"Plagiarism is a criminal offence if permission is not sought. Our website easyasabc-hosting.com is copy protected by Copyscape, which informs anyone not to copy our site or its format."

I went to http://copyscape.com/?results and found out that there are more sites just like easyasabc-hosting.com.
I have received this hosting template with the reseller hosting I bought. I am wondering how a hosting template that is giving to more than hosting company plagiarism?

I did some investigating on easyasabc-hosting.com and they did claim they have been in business since 1997, but then changed their footer to 2000.

If you do a whois lookup on easyasabc-hosting.com it shows that they created their domain 11-27-2006. They have not been in business since 1997 or 2000. Visit the wayback machine:

Only 3 records are shown, don't you think if a company has been in business since 1997 or 2000 they would have more than 3 records shown?

All I am saying is, how can a web template that is given to more than one hosting company be plagiarism? I really think easyasabc-hosting.com should reevaluate they're situation and stop messing with other peoples businesses.

Report Them to Google

So far I have had two encounters with content thieves. As a result of this I've found a simple, but effective way to deal with them.

Just simply go to Google's Spam Report feature and make it known that they have duplicated your content, and have thus violated the copyright on it. Be sure to provide them with a link to the original; and don't forget to express your feelings in the comment area.

It is likely that Google will remove their website from the search engine, or at the very least they will remove the page upon which the copyright infringement has taken place.

I hope this bit of information helps you when you need it.

Logging all my searches

Further to my post here: http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/post/copyscape/vpost?id=2576275&pid=24710177#post24710177, can any one tell me if there is a tool on Copyscape that keeps a log of all the searches that I do?

Part of my service for clients is that all the content I provide is copyscaped. Until now, this hasn't been a problem. However, if there are anomalies (as per my post mentioned above), I want to be able to prove that when I checked my copy, it was not duplicated.

Any ideas please anyone?

Different results on same copy

I wonder if someone can help / explain please?

One of my team of copy writers checked all her copy using the Pro search and 0 results came up.

I then also run the same searches on the copy, and came up with lots of matching results (ie duplicated content).

How can the same search bring up two different results please?

Both myself and my writer are in the UK, so are both using the same versions of Copyscape.

Any ideas please?
