Mondays Intermediate Training

Just wanted to say a big thank you to David and Kev for making the first Intermediate Training so much fun last night

The hard core of us turned out in the cold and we were warmed up in no time; from a frenzy of throwing, fielding and batting and raucous laughing - had forgotten what Softball was all about!!

Look forward to seeing more of you up there next week, bring your glove (although I have a spare if you want to borrow it) - and a bat if you have one.

..... we are now playing over at The Grounds - Clifton College Sports Grounds - the other side of the suspension bridge.

2 for BSA Members - 3 for those that aren't (yet!)

Ideally I would like to keep playing Div 2. All offers of game time considered!

Adopt a School

Hi again,
The League is looking for ways to generate youth interest in softball, one way is to have an Adopt a School Programme where teams take primary schools under their wing. The school would support the team and the team could assist in coaching. Choosing a school wouldn't be difficult, it could be a school where a player's child, grandchild or niece or nephew could attend or if a player is a teacher at a school. Select Education would help to coordinate this.

Coral and I have recently (last week!) started rock 'n' roll dance classes, and are looking for a couple of men who can either already dance, or who think they would be able to with a few lessons! If you are interested please contact either of us - lessons are on a Tuesday evening at the BAWA club. It's good fun, but much better when you don't have to look around for someone to dance with!

Hi All

Mr contentious here... Did You really enjoy the Ball this year ? I know it was a financial success but was it a social one ?

I'd like to propose an alternative end of season event that is inclusive of those that can't afford to hire a DJ and spend nearly 30.00 for a ticket.

One of the London Based leagues holds an "All star game" at the end of the season, They invite every team in the whole league to donate players to play in 1 or 2 demonstration games on a Saturday afternoon while the rest are having beers and a barbie in the sunshine - after the game there is a vote for MVP and then the awards ceremony for all divisions and players, the party retires indoors and the dancing and boasting and the pullin' and the chuckin' and the getting very drunk starts

They have side bets on the games and throwing and batting competitions to raise cash and it all goes toward mini buses to get people home and raffle prizes.

It's completely self funding as the barbie food is brought by the guests and the ground supplies the barbie in return for the bar receipts.

Everyone can afford to go, everyone usually does.

What does everyone think ?

If you really like balls - have one in the middle of summer !
