Hello friends at BaltimoreCatholic.com, old faces and new :). I hope you all are doing well this summer!

I wanted to post some information for the West County Young Adult Ministry for anyone interested since we would love to see new faces (or old faces we haven't seen in a while too!)

We having been doing Why Catholic studies which has been an excellent study. The group also engages in young adult activities and community service.

Young Adult Why Catholic
The Young Adult Ministry plans to resume Why Catholic Studies in October with "Life in Christ: Walking With God", which are sessions surrounding the topic of "Morality". Come join other young adults in the parish and neighboring parishes as we discuss how the teachings of the Church relate to our every day Faith Life.

Miniature Golf
Additionally, we are planning on having miniature golf on Sunday August 24th. The plan is to meet Arundel Golf Park in Glen Burnie at 4PM. This is a family friendly event. Prices are $6 for adults and $4.50 for children. You are welcome to invite friends and family to this event. Renaissance Festival
We will be having our annual group trip to the Renaissance Festival in late September or early October. There will be more information when it becomes available.

The young adult ministry core team is looking for energetic individuals who are interested in joining the core team to help plan and give direction for the young adult ministry. We would love to hear about new ideas to further the ministry. If you feel called to lead in young adult ministry or just interested in helping to plan exciting events for young adults, please contact us.

Adorations

I see that St. Louis Clarksville hosts Adorations with Taiz Prayers on the First Wednesday of each month in the church from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Does "Adorations" sort of mean "Eucharistic Adoration"?

I've been to Taiz at different places (not St. Louis) and I cannot remember ever having Eucharistic Adoration, so I am curious what "Adorations" means.

Looking for ideas

I live in the NE area of Baltimore County and would like to try getting more programs at my parish geared towards young adults.

I have a few ideas of things I would like my parish (St. Michael the Archangel of Overlea) to host at some point. For example, I have a copy of the series on EWTN "What Catholics Really Believe" on DVD. I'd like to see my parish host a series where we watch an episode and maybe discuss the topic afterwards. I also have an idea or two for single day retreats that could hopefully be held at a convent/monastery I know of that is (I hope it still is) on Dulaney Valley Road-I'd have to check to confirm if that location would be possible though. Perhaps we could get a "Discovering Christ" series out here from ChristLife?

I would like to have other ideas (in addition to my own) in hand when I approach my pastor to ask him if it would be ok. I would also like to hear concerns. For example, would babysitting arrangements be an issue? Would you prefer a program "series" that runs weekly or monthly in addition to single or two-evening events? Are there any specific speakers you'd like to hear? Any particular topics? Are any days of the week better or worse? Any times better or worse?

I would also like to see folks from nearby parishes be invited/welcomed/involved-St. Ursula's, Immaculate Heart of Mary, St. Clement's, Annunciation, St. Joseph's Fullerton, etc. Maybe instead of it becoming "The Young Adult Group of St. Michael's", we could end up forming a group composed of all the nearby parishes and each parish could rotate hosting various events? (I'm dreaming big here-that I can get this going and it takes off...)

Please list any ideas you have as well as any potential concerns or issues you feel could deter you from coming.

designated driving program in OC

Hello everyone a friend of mine told me about this. I am going to OC with some friends the weekend of July 18. I know many of you will also probably go with friends or family or possibly even friends in Baltimore Catholic. I thought you might be interested in this for designated driving to a from the bars in OC. I hope you are enjoying the summer. God bless each one of you.

For those who do want to go to the clubs/bars in Ocean City and can't find a designated driver from the group, I saw a commercial in Ocean City when me and Lisa went in June and its a designated driver service. A seat would need to left open in the vehicle for the designated driver from the company. If the cost is split up amongst those who are in the vehicle, its not to bad. Why Catholic @ St. Michael's Overlea

Hello all! I'm kind of new to this website. Anyway, I wanted to let you all know that at St. Michael the Archangel of Overlea, we'll be holding year 3 of Why Catholic, and we're (finally) having a group specifically for young adults. The topic this year is morality. Sessions will meet for 4 weeks in October and during Lent.

For anyone not familiar with the program, it's thru Renew International, and is a faith sharing program that journeys through the Cathechism of the Catholic Church.

I've asked the "PR" person (she does so much more than PR...) at St. Michael's to later on make sure info was placed on the calendar here, so more info to follow. Her information will be official and correct-the exact dates, times, and room, etc.

If anyone is interested in the meantime, please contact me or the church with your name, address (home and email). That way, you can be added to the mailing list when information is sent out-likely to be in August. All info will be kept private.

Please note: there is a cost involved-$10 for the text. There is an OPTIONAL cost of $15-only if you want to purchase a full copy of the CCC. (If you have or get the Compendium it's acceptable, also. St. Michael's may not have that available for purchase.) One text will get you thru BOTH fall and Lenten sessions.

Happy Year of St. Paul! I'm very excited about this year because I have recently grown to value St. Paul.

At the parish I went to this Sunday, we had a missionary priest do the homily. He was from Uganda.

I have heard it said before that America is now the country that needs missionaries, that we may have material wealth, but we lack the far more important spiritual wealth. I agree with this wholeheartedly. Anyone else have any opinions? If you do agree, how do we spend this missionary year (that is also an election year) bringing the faith to our American brothers and sisters that are in need?

Hello. I've recently returned to the Baltimore area and was very excited to find this website. I was even happier when I saw that St. Philip Neri was hosting FOP's! However, when I went to that parish for Mass, neither the priest,nor the secretaries, nor the parishioners knew what a FOP even was, and they said they had no knowledge of its happening at all. I see that a new date is posted for the next FOP. So can anyone tell me if these FOP's actually exist? Also, does anyone know of any Frassati Societies in the area?

new associate pastor at Holy Trinity

for those of you who haven't heard, Fr Michael DeAscanis (currently associate pastor of St Ursula's in Parkville) will be associate pastor at Holy Trinity effective July 1st. I got a phone call last night from someone I know at St Ursula's. It was also mentioned at St Philip Neri this morning (the cluster parishes are St Philip Neri in Linthicum, Good Shepherd in Glen Burnie, Church of the Crucifixion also in Glen Burnie, and St Bernadette's in Severn).

For those in the Parkville area and want to attend Fr Michael's farewell mass at St Ursula's, it will be Sunday, June 29th at the 12:15 mass with a reception following

Hey guys!

I want to extend an invitation to all local - college-aged young adults (early/mid 20 somethings). This summer at UMBC's Interfaith Center on Thursday evenings we are gathering for praise and worship, a series of teachings on how to proclaim Christ to others, and small group discussion.

ChristLife and UMBC's Newman Club are co-sponsoring this series, called Sharing Christ.

How can you respond to the Churchs call to proclaim the gospel? Join other college aged Catholics for a course on evangelization called Sharing Christ . This course is designed to educate Catholics on how to reach out to people in normal, daily life and tell them about Jesus. Sharing Christ will be held at UMBCS Interfaith center on Thursdays beginning June 12th and ending on July 24. Each evening begins at 7:30 and goes till 9:30pm.
