Hi everyone,
I intend applying for membership in the new year and would appreciate any information on trout and grayling fishing on club rivers. The venues look excellent and I'd like details of bag limits/catch and release/barbless hooks etc.
Our northern spate rivers are practically unfishable at present because of high rainfall, but we live in hopes of a little grayling fishing before Spring!

Cormorant at Disley Dam, mon 3 nov

I had the shock of seeing one of these disgusting birds at Disley Dam today, which I'm sure everyone will agree is a depressing sight. It is the first time I have ever seen one here, EVER, and had to check several times to be sure I wasn't going to start unnecessary scaremongering. It cleared off rapid once it saw me.
The water authority fly fisheries nearby have occasional problems with these, so its likely to have come down from there as it must only be a mile away at the most??

Has anyone else seen it in action, its a medium-large silt coloured bird with a vicious looking orange beak. A few of these at work could desimate the small fish population of Disley Dam no worries.

If it's seen enough times, or more turn up, are the club able to organise a cull?

Heartbreak at Linnets

You'll love this if you've ever fished Linnets...

Sat there all day yesterday shin-deep in shite, poured down all morning, then hail stones, then cleared up, and at 4.30 pm I got a screaming take, I slid down the bank on my arse, covered in mud... struck it... and there was nothing there.
It was so grim it brought a smile to my face. How much does it cost to fish 3 rods on there by the way??

Linnets shed busted open!

Hiya,

Not sure who to tell this to, so pass it on. I've just been for a recce (friday 5pm) up to Linnets, and saw that the shed door was busted wide open and the lock hanging off the door. Pitch black inside, and just saw some rotten sleeping bags and gas canisters - not sure whats in there normally.

I shut the door back up, but it needs checking out.

hi !!! I have been thinking of giveing the dam a go in the winter months (goin down with 2 carp rods) but i dont know wether it fishes well in winter and wanted to know if it is worth ago???

just spent the day trying to catch something at the Macc pools.
top pool was very hard to get around to fish any were and after 3 hrs of not even seeing a fish move i went down to the bottom pool.
at the bottom they have cut ALL the trees down making it very exposed. the only thing moving here was a Jack pike. i think between the pike and the heroin they have cleared this pool out.
i did manage a small perch and there was about 3 small fish moving but it was very poor.
for reference i tried feeder and waggler on maggot, worm, sweet corn and the odd boilie, but not even a line bit. the weather was quite mild and slightly overcast with a slight wind in the moaning.
i have had more luck on combs reservoir in winter
