My family loves to make fun of my misfortunes!! *They MAY get it from me!!* You all know I hit my head pretty hard, right? Well.....My 11 year old son comes home today and says; " Oh My God are you OK?? I saw the short bus flip over and I know you don't like to wear your helmet!!"
I know what your all thinking.....and yes, he is for sale!!

Surgery now days away!

OK... now I am getting really nervous, excited, and scared, all at the same time. Had my PATs on Monday 12/1/08. Passed! Now I'm just waiting until my surgery date of 12/10/08... Less than a week away!
When the nutritionist showed me the layout of how you will be on full liquids for 3 weeks, I thought to myself...geez, how am I gonna do this? But I know that I can and will. A little afraid of the surgery, but alot of you have been through it, so I am hanging on to your words of wisdom and know that everything will be ok. Now I just want it to get here!

Even my tongue has lost weight!!!

I got my dates........yahooooo......Pats Jan. 19. 2009 and surgery Feb. 4, 2009. I am doing the very happy dance!!!!!!!!!

After 2 sad years without my Cocker spaniel (we had to put her down) I am now the proud owner of a beautiful 8 week old Springer Spaniel. My dh surprised me with him last night. He is already lighting up my life. I just never thought I would be able to handle getting another dog after Shana. Bentley is adorable though. The really neat thing is that 4 months ago I could not have even gotten on the floor with him. Not only am I able to get up and down off the floor, but I have been able to chase him around the house too (when he puts something he shouldn't have in his mouth). Up and down all day and I love it just because I CAN!!!!!!!!!!!

...one year later...

Here I am - One year later! I can't believe my surgery was a year ago today! So much has happened this year it feels like a whirlwind. Just thought I'd let you all know this continues to be the best decision I've ever made for myself (even considering all the problems I've had the last few months)..... I'm happier, I'm more self confident, healthier, (no more BP or cholesterol meds, no CPAP), I'm active, I can ride roller coasters!, I can ride horses, I can run!!! .... People notice me when I'm out and most of the time I can't quit smiling!

OHIP Issues

I went to my Dr's. today and the form that I took in a month ago was still in my file. Dr said that we needed to find out who is doing the by-pass surgery in Ont., and get a contact number, and also see what the waiting time is before the pappers can be sent in. He hasn't had anyone ask for a refferal for this in 3 years, and wants me to try and get the information. I have spent the last 4 hours on line and have come up no further ahead. I called the Barix Clinic and they suggested that I post my issue and maybee someone out there may be able to advise me. I don't understand how some people have had no problem with this step and others, it,s like pulling teeth to get the papperwork done. I am feeling frustrated.
Can anyone help???????

Barix called me today and I missed the call. I called back and they told me I needed to see an endocrinologist because my blood work had come back abnormal. So that was this morning. I spent half the day begging my doctor to see me today since she is an endocrinologist and when I'm about to leave to go to my appointment, Barix calls me and tells me they made a mistake, I have to go see a hemotologist. So now I finally found one of those and but they can't see me until Tuesday morning... I'm kinda bummed because things are so close. Thats only 6 days from my surgery. So today has not been the best of days. I need my Vanda...........................

I saw Dr. Schramm today......and he said I am doing GREAT!!! I am down 22 lbs from pre surgery plus the 12 I lost after the hospital. I don't have to see him again til my 3 month.

THE BEST NEWS.............REAL FOOD!!!! He told me go ahead. I am clear for everything!

Holiday Party

Hello to everyone checking into the Ypsilanti Support Group page. Just wanted to post a note about December 20th. We will once again be having a Holiday Party with a pot luck lunch and gift exchange game.

John and I would love to have a HUGH group for this event, so we hope that you will be able to make time to join us.

TIME: 10am
PLACE: Barix on Prospect Rd., Ypsilanti MI

Please bring a gastric by-pass friendly dish to pass - and the recipe if you would like to share.

The gift exchange will be in the form of a game we have played since I joined the group in 2003. A wrapped gift in the $10-$15 range, preferably something our guys might like too. Everyone that brings a gift will draw a number. Whoever gets #1, gets the pick of the table, #2 can choose from the table OR take whatever #1 chose and so on. Once everyone has a gift (still wrapped) there will be a minute to make any final "deals" on that special package that you really wanted. Then we open! There have been many wonderful surprises in those pretty packages.

If things are just too hectic to attend, our meeting in January will be on the 17th at 10 am and hopefully you will be able to attend. Any suggestions for specific topics or possible presentations are always welcome.

Hey everyone.....sorry I have been MIA since my computer crashed yet again, AHHHH, anywho just wanted to update you all on my progress this far.

Well......drum roll.............................Im down a total of 41lbs and 26 of that 41 was since surgery!! Im besides myself at the moment. I knew that must needed weight was going to leave me but that fast is jsut amazing. Im so so so very happy to have begun this journey and for all you amazing people to be there with moi as well.

WOOOOHOOOOO!!!IM doing it

Well I hope everyone is doing well and getting ready for Christmas. Lets see where another month will take me!

I cannot contain myself any longer. I am simply busting to share my WOW. Just today I tried on a pair of pants I received from my sil, size 11/12, AND THEY FIT!!!!!!! People are starting to comment that I should stop losing.....For me, it's not about the weight, but the size. I just want desperately to wear a size 8 again. Once I'm there, then I'll consider a maintenance program. Thanks for sharing in my wow. I now weigh about 157-159 consistently. I am hoping to leave the 150's behind soon.
