In America we know that the subculture exist most of us just ignore its existence. Those that are within the subculture are labeled as the disenfranchised, the shiftless, and the lazy. Is the subculture is more than gang-bangers, Ebonics, and big proportioned women shaking their back-sides? Is it more than the ghetto? EveryDay Life asserts that the subculture is and has played a much larger role in making America great than we would like admit to. Hardie boldly asserts that the subculture represents the last bastion of truth left in America. Until now, no one has endeavored to look this closely, or this honestly at this segment of the population. This In-Your-Face book is a brilliantly humorous work that is easily adaptable to any medium.

Reviews for my second book, Traci's Story

     Tracis Story, by author Marguerite Ashton, is not only a mind-blowing story but also a wonderfully crafted novel about a very bold and courageous girl, named Traci, who despite being born and brought up in a troubled home, faces great challenges in life and in meeting them, ends up trying to fight them out for good which had destroyed her for nothing.
     Marguerite Ashton has a smooth writing style and this is one book everyone should read. As I read the story, it came to life, as if I were watching a movie. I give this book thumbs up and look forward to future writings from this promising author. I highly recommend Tracis Story.

     Tracis Story sucked me into its pages and I had difficulty tearing myself from the manuscript. This is a moving story based on a true story of a woman brought up by an alcoholic single mother.
     As a child, Traci bravely accepts the barrage of difficulties, disrespect and responsibilities of handling a helplessly drunken parent but it leaves her emotionally scarred. While driving under the influence, the thoughtless mother inflicts a permanent and visible disability on her child that serves as a constant reminder of her past. Every mirror, every pair of eyes reflects her abnormality and this becomes a torment for Traci. As an adult, she struggles with her inner demons and the mind-numbing addictions to both alcohol and her work.
     Marguerite Ashton uses a direct and simple writing style that envelops the reader in Tracis world so deeply that the real world fades away for a little while. The ending left me with a feeling that the book is not finished. Yet, because I was thinking about it for days, I would have to say the ending was effective.

     Tracis Story by Marguerite Ashton is an amazing book about growing up in a troubled home, dealing with very tough circumstances, and fighting the same poison that destroyed her entire being.
     This book is an incredible insight into a battered world and will have you appreciating life as well as the love around you. Tracis Story is a definite must-read!

The public rewards 'Taylini: A Family Saga"

The public has rewarded 'Taylini: A Family Saga." Marguerite Ashton's book is indeed among the books most sold in the USA in this moment. Although it is the first book of the American author, it was published in the USA last autumn. In fact, the story of the 'Famiglia Mafiosa," narrated in the novel, receives a special recognition: that of its public who is confronted with the Italian story out of the pen of an American author.

The story of Nora and Santino Tavlini, from Sicily, Palermo, hits the reader, mostly when it talks about the 5 children of the couple and the mafiosi dynamics of the Island.

'Taylini: A Family Saga' is a drama that takes you precisely inside the life of a mafiosa family, according to the book review of Sherry Moore of Shadows of the Past. In this well-written story, the reader is taken not only into the internal family problems, but also in their struggles. I recommend this novel."

However, what has impacted many readers -- and many are the testimonies expressed through the internet is that is not a violent story, but the novel even introduces the dynamic of love of the two young Italian-American 'padrini" for two women who do not belong to the families of the organized crime. In other words, business and family are interlaced.

'Their lives are complicated not only for their biological membership/belonging in a family that tries to keep the family together, but also for the logic of the mafia family that seeks to keep in control the lives of their own members and dictate their choices," according to the review of Shirley Roe of All Books Review.

Even the book's internet forum seems to have much success: Readers write their own comments, talking about some particular anecdote that has hit them. The signatures in the guest book, sensible to the argument, highlight the presence of Italian-Americans. However, not only the names highlight their presence, but also some comments about belonging to a community with Italian origins that look for books dealing with Italian related arguments as part of their own origins.
