Almost feel sorry for him. He jumps into the deep end of Nascar, has a very hard time adapting, gets his ankle broken, then his team closes down. He's going back to Ganassi's Indy cars next year. Anyone want to bet the 'open wheel craze' is over in Nascar? To bad Carpentier can't find a sponsor...I think he has possibilities.

There are more and more incentives being offered to fans by tracks trying to get them to buy tickets and attend races. While reading this article I saw that Homestead-Miami is offering a $20 gas card to fans attending from more than 100 miles away. For someone coming from that far away $20 doesn't buy a hill of beans with current gas prices. While some fans are staying away due to costs of attending, others are choosing this path because the racing sucks. No amount of incentives are going to make them come back because they don't want to spend their hard earned money on "racertainment." NASCAR started this domino effect and now they'll just have to live with it.

Gillian Zucker has to be dreaming to think they will EVER fill those seats. I dont care if you hold the race in December. There just aint that many fans out here.

They MAY make up a few seats with having a "chase" race, but the days of filling the stands are OVER. A pipe dream. DONE.

Bristol TV Ratings down: ESPN's live coverage of the Sprint Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway earned a 3.5 household coverage rating, down from a 4.1 for last year's telecast on ESPN. Viewers were 4,996,647, down 13% from 5,735,433 in 2007. Coverage of the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Bristol on ESPN earned a 1.4 household coverage rating, down from a 1.5 for last year's race that aired on ESPN2. I guess it wasn't just me at the track. Who would ever think that people wouldn't tune in to watch the excitement that WAS Bristol!? As I said, it may be 'good racing', but it ain't Bristol.
